Are you a safety professional with hands-on demolition experience and a passion for protecting people and projects? We're seeking a Health & Safety Officer to oversee and enforce safe work practices on a
large-scale, high-risk vertical demolition project in Crows Landing, CA.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in both administrative and field environments, and who can confidently collaborate with project management, field operations, and senior leadership. Our client is a growing civil and environmental construction firm with over 200 professionals across California-and they're looking for top-tier talent to join their mission.
🚧 Demolition Experience is a MUST
Candidates must have prior experience managing safety on demolition projects, particularly involving vertical structures. This is a critical requirement due to the complexity and risk profile of the work.
Key Responsibilities
Enforce safe work practices on-site, especially during vertical demolition activities
Maintain training and certification records across multiple platforms
Conduct Safe Work Observations (SWOs) and lead field safety meetings
Review incident reports and support investigations
Prepare and manage project-specific safety documentation (HASP, field binders)
Analyze safety data: near-misses, incidents, stop works, observations
Oversee subcontractor HSE qualification and compliance
Perform root cause analyses and recommend corrective actions
Conduct weekly safety audits and inspections
Develop AHAs and JSAs tailored to demolition and construction tasks
Collaborate with regional leadership to support safety programs
Provide training and administrative support to field teams
Track HSE and KPI metrics to measure performance
Respond to pre-qualification and compliance inquiries
Job Requirements:
Qualifications & Skills
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, demolition safety, and construction HSE standards
Familiarity with industrial hygiene, COCs, and exposure action levels
Experience with behavior-based safety programs and site-specific safety plans
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong administrative skills
Excellent communication and public speaking abilities
Proven ability to lead by example and work across all levels of the organization
Must be comfortable in both field and office settings
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of relevant industry experience
Background in engineering or environmental construction safety preferred
Certifications: Title 17 Lead CDPH, BAAQMD Rule 8, OSHA #500 or #510 (preferred)

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD.
Advanced knowledge of EHS engineering/scientific principles and ability to resolve complex issues.
Strong analytical, leadership, and project planning skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Experience supporting multiple construction projects with shifting priorities and deadlines.

Oversee daily safety briefs and prior to starting work, to include toolbox talks and briefing of daily applicable AHAs.
Oversee weekly review of upcoming AHAs with client to ensure alignment prior to start of work activity.
Confirm adherence to all Infection Control and Interim Life Safety protocols, including inspections on barriers, HEPA equipment, dust/dirt mitigation into the Medical Clinic and directional signage.
Provide ongoing evaluation of hazardous conditions. In coordination with site management, provide recommendations for changes to procedural or administrative controls and/or personal protective equipment to eliminate those hazards. Consult with the Site Superintendent, and the Contracting Officer to coordinate for any modifications to the accepted APP/SSHP and evaluate as the solution is implemented.
Schedule, coordinate and deliver weekly safety training/briefings to the workforce or procure weekly safety documentation from trade companies. Maintain training documentation and attendance records.
Investigate property damage and personal injury accidents to determine cause and methods to prevent recurrence.
Conduct accident investigations and prepare incident and accident reports for review by Management and as required by OSHA and other regulatory agencies.

Job Overview
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a safety program that aligns with regulatory systems, contract strategies and organizational policies and procedures. Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
* Develop, implement, and maintain Accident Prevention Plans designed for ensuring compliance with contract requirements, governing regulatory authorities and company policies.
* Acts as primary point of contact for all safety incidents; maintains accurate, organized, confidential case files.

Mandatory:
* Ten (10)+ years of progressive experience with similar site.

* OSHA 30 Certification (Construction or General Industry).
* Current EM 385-1-1 (40) hour Certificate or obtain the certificate in first 90 days of employment
* Demonstrated experience in the following:
o Drafting safety policies, procedures and/or training documents.
o Investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.
o Risk considerations associated with safety plans, work activities, and equipment usage.

Overview
What You Will Do
As a Site Safety Lead you will be primarily responsible for onsite safety efforts for the Prime Control's customer site, as well as administration and execution of Prime Controls' ES&H Programs as contracted by scope.
A Typical Day at Prime Controls
Promote Prime Controls' award-winning “Safety Culture” and "Standards"
Observe safe work practices and present opportunities for improvement. Mentor employees and encourage their safe work practices, following Stop Work Authority
Generate, observe, inspect, and close job permits, audits, toolboxes, work safe observations, orientations
Perform health and safety program auditing
Assist in incident investigations and emergency response
Attend site safety meetings and convey information to the project team and corporate
Complete other projects as assigned
What You Will Bring
The Basic
Knowledge of safety standards, such as scaffolding, lockout/tag out, and electrical.
An OSHA 30 completed within the last three years and an OSHA 500 / 502 and STS valid certificate of completion.
5+ years of experience in industrial, electrical, and safety around facility critical infrastructure construction
Able to pass a seven-year background check.
Experience working with a large subcontractor force.
Applicable working knowledge of TRIR and EMR.
Exhibit integrity, flexibility, initiative, and adherence to company policies and programs.
Clear and concise communication, both written and oral.
Ability to effectively work with all levels or divisions on-site, in meetings, and within Prime Controls.
Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and emails.
Role is fully onsite in Midlothian Texas

Job Overview
The Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) will prepare and enforce Chugach's safety program for maintenance operations support team of skilled and semi-skilled tradespeople at Naval Air Facility, El Centro, CA. The contract will cover general service work, general maintenance, base support vehicles and equipment, environmental, and other base services. The SSHO is responsible to implement and administer Chugach's safety program and Government-accepted Accident Prevention Plan. This position is designed to establish a culture of safety throughout the contractual organization.

Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Job Functions:
* Responsible for risk mitigation of all of the hazards identified in Chugach's Safety and Health Program IAW the accepted Accident Prevention Plan and shall be on-site at all times when the work that presents the hazards associated with their professional expertise is being performed.
* Acts as primary point of contact for all safety-related issues.
* Ensures a high level of internal and external customer service; investigates and corrects safety-related problems and risks.
* Develops, implements, and maintains safety practices associated with assigned departments and interrelated departments and which align with Chugach's culture of safety.
* Establishes programs for safety with the goal of aligning all operational functions with a structure that is focused on forward looking, i.e., preparing/approving safety procedures, providing work instructions/procedures/check sheets, maintain internal safety programs.
* Develops and presents company and contract information at all hands meetings.
* Ensures departmental reporting and data calls are executed in a timely, complete, and accurate manner.
* Fosters teamwork between departments on safety-related issues.
* Provides clear and decisive written and oral communication.
* Establishes and maintains good working relationships with Government and internal customers.
* Works professionally and collaboratively with all contract and company personnel.
* Maintains a high degree of professionalism and works well with all levels of the organization.
* Operates Government and Chugach-owned motor vehicles.
* Adheres to established company safety personnel and SOPs and policies.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
* Five years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity.
* If possessing a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification, must possess five years of satisfactory experience in preparing and enforcing safety programs on contracts of similar size and complexity within the last three years.
* Completed the OSHA 30-hour construction safety class or equivalent.
* Must maintain competency through 24 hours of formal safety- and health-related coursework over four years.
* Meets the requirements of EM 385-1-1 Section 1.
* Skill in the use of MS Office Suite at an intermediate level.
* Knowledge of generally accepted standards of workmanship in maintenance of facilities.
* Knowledge of Government contracting terminologies and applications.
* Ability to effectively communicate, read, and write in English.
* Ability to be on site during the Government's regular working hours and shall be available on site within two hours after the Government's request after regular hours.
* Knowledge of equipment maintenance.
* Must have, and maintain, a valid Real ID driver's license with acceptable driving record.
* Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.
