Later, the James Andrus Military Expedition of 1866 chased marauding Navajos through present day Bryce Canyon National Park.
He arrived on the Paunsagunt Plateau and Paria Valley in 1875 to harvest timber.
After 1900, visitors began to arrive to view the colorful geologic features, and initial accommodations were constructed along the plateau rim above Bryce's Canyon.
Bryce Corporation’s origins date back to 1922, when in Dallas, Texas, William H. Bryce Sr. lead the creation and development of waxing technology with the Dixie Company.
On June 8, 1923, President Warren G. Harding proclaimed part of the area as Bryce Canyon National Monument.
He subsequently left Dixie Company in 1927 and founded Dixie Wax Paper in Memphis, TN thus beginning Bryce Corporation’s long standing commitment to and involvement in the Midsouth.
The area was officially established as Bryce Canyon National Park February 25, 1928.
1957 – Bryce and his son William Jr. strike out on their own.
In 1969, while working at Dixie Wax Paper and observing the radically advanced capabilities of polypropylene technology, William H. Bryce Jr. founded Bryce Corporation.
1969 – William Bryce Jr. (Bill) starts Bryce Corporation in Memphis, producing plastic packaging for the snack food industry with the motto, “Our business is response.”
The Company was organized in 1991 as a Minority Business Enterprise (“MBE”) and started as a joint venture between Robert L. Johnson, Rhonda Johnson, and the shareholders of Bryce Corporation, a flexible packaging manufacturer also based in Memphis, Tennessee.
In 1997, current Chairman and CEO, Thomas J. Bryce began his leadership of Bryce Corporation building upon the business principles and values that have characterized the business.
Tom and John oversee the company’s growth into Brazil and Germany and open plants in Tupelo, MS and Houston, TX. 2006 – John Bryce launches Bryce Sales, a complementary business to Bryce Corporation specializing in thermal finishing, distribution, and logistics.
On January 2, 2007, the Purifoy family acquired majority ownership of JB and Ron Purifoy assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Company.
2008 – Bryce Sales becomes ADLAM Films and opens new 107,000 square-foot facility outside Tupelo.
