Primary Function

What You Will Do
As an Electrical Engineering Technologist, you will collaborate in a team environment to design and support industrial electrical systems, which includes various types of equipment new and old.

Position Overview
The E&I Technician plays a critical role in ensuring equipment reliability, process accuracy, and safe operations. This position has a strong emphasis on instrumentation and process control, supporting plant production through troubleshooting, calibration, preventive maintenance, and system improvements.
You will work hands-on with instrumentation, PLCs, DCS systems, and electrical controls, partnering closely with operations and maintenance teams to keep production running efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
Install, troubleshoot, repair, test, and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems in an industrial manufacturing environment
Diagnose and repair PLCs, DCS systems, control circuits, and instrumentation loops
Perform instrument calibration and testing (flow, level, pressure, temperature)
Maintain and repair VFDs, 480V motor starters, and 120VAC control circuits
Execute preventive and predictive maintenance to maximize equipment reliability
Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, blueprints, and technical manuals
Conduct root cause analysis to identify and prevent recurring equipment failures
Maintain accurate maintenance and performance records
Support equipment startups, shutdowns, testing, and commissioning
Follow and enforce all safety standards, including LOTO, Arc Flash, OSHA, and NFPA 70E
Participate in rotating after-hours on-call support

This is an Instrument/Electrical (I/E) technician position in which the incumbent will perform basic and mid-level I/E craft tasks while receiving formal training and mentoring within the I/E organization. The incumbent may coach and/or mentor employees in the entry-level or trainee level of the I/E craft. The incumbent will be familiar with the safety requirements of the I/E crafts to be able to aid or lead in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, adjusting of electrical equipment, instrumentation, and analytical equipment within an industrial/manufacturing plant environment.
RESPONSIBILTIES
Understand and apply Industrial Safety requirements for the Instrument and Electrical crafts.
Use common tools of the Instrument/Electrical crafts and electrical/electronic test equipment.
Work on Instrumentation Calibration, Pneumatic Control Valves, and Process Control Loops.
Perform installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electrical equipment, instrumentation, and analytical equipment.
Read and interpret electrical codes, manuals, procedures, schematic diagrams, and blueprints.
Properly document all repair activities and actively seek continuous improvement opportunities.
Continuously acquire basic knowledge of processes involved in the production units.
Promote safe and effective work, document work in SAP CMMS, and train and mentor others on precision maintenance principles.
REQUIREMENTS
Electrical/Electronic Associate degree with 2+ years' experience in maintenance journeyman in relevant industry.
Demonstrated proficiency in I/E craft through nationally recognized training organizations.
Strong knowledge in E&I and Process Controls.
Motivated, team-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
Familiar with Temperature, Pressure, and flow instrumentation and able to program and troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives.

About the Role
We are seeking a Instruments & Electrical Technician to be a part of the maintenance team based in Concord.
Reporting Relationships
This position directly reports to the I&E Supervisor and does not supervise others.

Key Accountabilities
Perform instrumentation and electrical maintenance functions which include but are not limited to the following:
Perform electrical calibrations & preventative maintenance
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical power systems, motor drives, control systems, as well as instruments used in the systems
Understand and safely use test equipment such as volt, Ohm, current meters, megohmeters, oscilloscopes
Disassemble, clean, reassemble production equipment
Install and/or verify correct instrument installation
Support new equipment installations with point to point verification prior to start up
Update electrical drawings & procedures, when needed
Write detailed written reports
Operate PIV equipment (forklifts, portable hoist, cherry picker, one-man lift, etc.)
Repair and/or replace electrical components
Train other maintenance personnel on I&E systems and personal areas of expertise
Work collaboratively with all maintenance and manufacturing personnel
Participate in cross-functional teams to contribute to continuous improvement

Qualifications
Education Background:
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required
Associate degree or certificate in Electrical Technology highly preferred.
Considerations will be made for related field or relevant military experience.
Knowledge & Experience:
8+ years' experience in an industrial environment performing instrumentation & electrical work
Key Attributes:
Ability to perform diagnostics and set-up of PLC & AC Inverter drives; preferred experience on Allen Bradley RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, and Powerflex drives
PIV equipment experience (forklifts, portable hoist, cherry picker, one-man lift, etc.)
Experience and knowledge of mechanical systems a plus
Ability to troubleshoot a wide range of AC/DC electrical systems required

Working Environment
This position is a night shift 12 hour, 2-2-3 rotation position. Training will occur on dayshift hours.
This position is in a manufacturing plant setting that would require working in a production environment around chemicals. Work will require standing and walking for up to 80% of the time. Lighting and temperature are adequate. You may be required to lift up to 25 pounds and/or force necessary to push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
