The Detailer is responsible for producing accurate, code-compliant door and hardware schedules and coordinating opening requirements in alignment with contract documents, specifications, and project needs. This role prepares detailed submittals, shop drawings, and supporting documentation, ensuring projects meet quality, compliance, and timeline expectations.
Essential Functions
Review sales sheets, purchase orders, plans, and specifications for accuracy in estimated quantities, pricing, and project requirements.
Detail and schedule openings, materials, and hardware to ensure compliance with contract documents, local codes, and customer expectations.
Verify product costs, enter costs during the scheduling process, and compare to estimated costs to ensure budget alignment.
Prepare submittals, shop drawings, schedules, and supporting documentation using Comsense and company-issued software.
Create detailed elevations and sections as needed to support submittals.
Identify and communicate discrepancies, compliance concerns, or required clarifications with architects, general contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Review schedules and submittals for accuracy and potential alternatives that may benefit the project.
Update and resubmit submittals as needed; prepare projects for ordering in coordination with the Project Manager or Location Manager.
Collaborate with Sales, Estimating, and Project Management to ensure smooth transitions across project phases.
Complete all assigned work accurately, on time, and in compliance with building codes, ADA, UL, NFPA, and other industry standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Location Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
2-5 years of related experience in door, frame, hardware, or similar construction detailing required.
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or coursework in drafting, construction management, or related field preferred.
Experience with Comsense Enterprise or Advantage strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Proficiency in blueprint reading and specification interpretation.
Knowledge of door, frame, and hardware applications as they relate to UL, NFPA, IBC, ADA, life safety, and local building codes.
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Comsense and related industry software preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with positive interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
Detail-oriented, quality-driven, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
The role of a Constructability Detailer is integral to ensuring the accuracy and constructability of project designs before they reach the field. This position requires proficiency in various software applications, a deep understanding of departmental processes, and adherence to redlining protocols and CEI Installation Standards. Key responsibilities include reviewing Constructability SOW checklists, populating and updating the Redline Drawing log. The Detailer also performs thorough reviews of specifications and submittals, schedules and participates in weekly issue log meetings, and assists with RFIs. Additionally, the role involves maintaining document control, ensuring compliance with installation standards, and addressing bulletin updates and added scope. Effective communication and collaboration with project management, field operations, BIM, and other departments are essential to execute these tasks successfully.
+ Proficient in various software applications and platforms, including but not limited to: Bluebeam Revu, Excel, Navisworks Manage, BIM 360, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
+ Have a comprehensive knowledge of departmental processes, redlining protocols, document management, and CEI Installation Standards.
+ Conduct a thorough review of the specifications and submittals using the Bluebeam Specification & Submittal Review Profile. Any identified issues shall be documented in the Issues Log to be addressed with the project team.
+ Assist the project management team with RFI's. This includes verbiage and supporting documents.
+ Perform a thorough review of the most current contract drawings and generate redlines, details, prefab drawings, and assembly sheets in accordance with the department's redlining protocols. Any identified issues shall be documented in the Issues Log to be addressed with the project team.
+ Distribute the completed redlines, details, prefab drawings, and assembly sheets, and notify the project team, including the location where they have been saved.
+ Update the Redline Drawing log as redlines, details, prefab drawings, and assembly sheets are generated and when new revisions are issued.
+ Populate Conduit schedule.
+ If BIM is required, the detailer is responsible for the following:
+ Assisting the project team in completing the BIM Specification Sheet and Installation Drawing Checklist.
+ Attending BIM coordination meetings as needed.
+ Following up after redlines have been distributed and addressing all model constructability issues.
+ Reviewing all Installation Drawings generated from the model.
+ Weekly time entry into JDE and saving timecards to a designated folder.
+ Maintain clear and consistent communication with your project team. In instances where needed, act as a mediator between engineering, project management, field operations, BIM, and Prefab departments.
+ Maintain proper document control by adhering to the department's folder structure and naming conventions.
+ Ensure that the latest CEI Installation Standards are being followed and serve as a resource for standardization whenever necessary.
+ Address bulletin updates and added scope. This includes:
+ Getting project management approval for rework.
+ Requesting new cost code if applicable.
+ Updating the Pre-Construction project folder with the most recent contract documents and archiving old ones.
+ Updating the BIM Hub and Redline Drawing Log with added scope.
+ Providing a ROM if requested.
+ Updating redlines and any other Constructability deliverables that are impacted.
+ Coordination with BIM if applicable.

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
The role of a Constructability Detailer is integral to ensuring the accuracy and constructability of project designs before they reach the field. This position requires proficiency in various software applications, a deep understanding of departmental processes, and adherence to redlining protocols and CEI Installation Standards. Key responsibilities include reviewing Constructability SOW checklists, populating and updating the Redline Drawing log. The Detailer also performs thorough reviews of specifications and submittals, schedules and participates in weekly issue log meetings, and assists with RFIs. Additionally, the role involves maintaining document control, ensuring compliance with installation standards, and addressing bulletin updates and added scope. Effective communication and collaboration with project management, field operations, BIM, and other departments are essential to execute these tasks successfully.
+ Proficient in various software applications and platforms, including but not limited to: Bluebeam Revu, Excel, Navisworks Manage, BIM 360, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
+ Have a comprehensive knowledge of departmental processes, redlining protocols, document management, and CEI Installation Standards.
+ Conduct a thorough review of the specifications and submittals using the Bluebeam Specification & Submittal Review Profile. Any identified issues shall be documented in the Issues Log to be addressed with the project team.
+ Assist the project management team with RFI's. This includes verbiage and supporting documents.
+ Perform a thorough review of the most current contract drawings and generate redlines, details, prefab drawings, and assembly sheets in accordance with the department's redlining protocols. Any identified issues shall be documented in the Issues Log to be addressed with the project team.
+ Distribute the completed redlines, details, prefab drawings, and assembly sheets, and notify the project team, including the location where they have been saved.
+ Update the Redline Drawing log as redlines, details, prefab drawings, and assembly sheets are generated and when new revisions are issued.
+ Populate Conduit schedule.
+ If BIM is required, the detailer is responsible for the following:
+ Assisting the project team in completing the BIM Specification Sheet and Installation Drawing Checklist.
+ Attending BIM coordination meetings as needed.
+ Following up after redlines have been distributed and addressing all model constructability issues.
+ Reviewing all Installation Drawings generated from the model.
+ Weekly time entry into JDE and saving timecards to a designated folder.

+ Maintain proper document control by adhering to the department's folder structure and naming conventions.

+ Getting project management approval for rework.
+ Requesting new cost code if applicable.

Reports to: DFH Detailing Manager FLSA Status: Exempt The Division 8 Detailer is responsible for producing accurate, extremely detailed, and time-sensitive submittals, change order proposals, as well as material orders for large-capital commercial construction projects.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Read and interpret contract documents, including but not limited to scope of work, requests for proposal, project schedules, drawings/details, specifications, and opening schedules
Responsible for capturing all pertinent scope changes and maintenance of project's financials to ensure project's success, measured in timeliness of materials and ability to maximize profitability
Familiarity and competency with application of financial attributes: List pricing, buying programs, discounts and change order proposals
Maximize buyout opportunities via suggestion of alternate products, value engineering options and other creative or proactive solutions
Must be able to apply DFH knowledge of codes and standards, hardware templates, hardware locations, pre-fit sizing, machining sheets. Identify and articulate potential issues with applications, codes, and constructability and be able to provide solutions
DFH Product knowledge: Hardware, Hollow Metal, Wood Doors, Interior Aluminum and Specialty Openings
Prepare detailed submittals, shop drawings and product data utilizing state of the art industry software; Bluebeam/AutoCAD/Comsense
Responsible for procurement in alignment with customer deadlines of DFH materials through purchase orders and subcontracts, via machining sheets, templates. Ensure receipt of order acknowledgements
Maintain constant and effective communication/collaboration with the DFH Estimators and Project Team to ensure that project materials are on time and under budget
Generate RFIs and clarifications as well as provide practical solutions for any potential technical issues discovered during detailing process
