Description The registered dietitian (RD) is responsible for the nutritional intervention for a variety of oncology out-patients. The RD functions as an integral member of the clinical interdisciplinary team by providing nutrition services and medical nutritional therapy integrated with the medical goals of cancer patients. The RD will work closely with Cancer Patient Support Services, including Integrative Medicine, Exercise Physiology, Social Workers, Psychologists, ARNPs and Nurse Navigators. The RD recommends appropriate medical nutrition therapy based on the diagnosis of the patient, disease stage and nutritional status. The RD educates patients, family and significant others on nutritional guidelines to follow before, during and after cancer treatment as needed. The RD contributes to departmental achievements through process improvement. The RD documents nutritional interventions including plan of care using the Nutrition Care Process in the electronic medical record of the patient. The RD functions as a nutrition educator and conducts programs for MCI patients, family and caregivers. The Estimated salary range for this position is $63918. 68 - $83094. 28 / year depending on experience. Qualifications Degrees:Masters degree is required. Consistently contributes to a multidisciplinary, collaborative effort to ensure positive patient outcomes. The Clinical Dietitian works with the food service management and staff to coordinate delivery of the prescribed diet and meet the nutritional needs of the patient. Responsible to practice within their scope of licensure in accordance with approved policies, procedures and protocols. Must effectively interact with patients, families, physicians and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nutritional care. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position Responsibilities Standard Work Duties: Dietitian I Evaluate patients nutrition status upon consult and or deemed clinically appropriate per referral from members of the multi-disciplinary team, Clinical Informatics and or as directed per Clinical Nutrition Manager, utilizing the Nutrition Care Process, to include Nutrition Focused Physical Exam. Documents Malnutrition diagnosis based on ASPEN guidelines. Implements and monitors nutrition care based on: Nutritional Care: Screening, Assessment, and Plan for the Provision of - CL.0190. Initiates / provides Medical Nutrition Therapy based upon Licensed Dietitian Ordering Privileges. Collaborates with and communicates effectively with physicians and members of the multi-disciplinary team to integrate information which refines and contributes to the overall medical care of the patient, with specific emphasis on nutritional care, through routine rounds. Timely and Accurately completes weekly productivity report. Educates Medical Residents, Nursing and Nutrition Staff. Participates in Food Service Quality Initiatives (Test Trays, Meal Rounds, GEMBA Meetings, reports concern to FSD and or CNM, maintains open communication with Clinical Nutrition Manager. Guide Projects Using Acceptable Standards And ITIL Framework Safety And Performance Improvement Behaves in a mindful manner focused on self, patient, visitor, and team safety. Demonstrates accountability and commitment to quality work. Participates actively in process improvement and adoption of standard work. Competencies & Skills Essential: Working knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy - Required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint - Preferred. Public speaking - Preferred Qualifications & Experience Essential: Bachelor Degree Nonessential: Master Degree Essential: Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics or equivalent prior to January 1, 2024. Nonessential: Masters of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition or related field Other information: Experience Essential: One year experience in acute care facility Experience Preferred: Minimum of two years clinical experience. Certification Essential: Per department or hospital requirements and relevant policies. Licenses Essential: Licensed by the state of Florida as a Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Eligible (maximum of one year from date of eligibility).
