What you'll do
The Medical OncologyNurse provides specialized care to cancer patients by administering treatments, monitoring progress, managing side effects, and offering emotional support. In collaboration with other healthcare professionals the Medical OncologyNurse helps develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
* Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional conditions
* Monitor vital signs, lab results, and other relevant data
* Administer chemotherapy and other cancer treatments as prescribed
* Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, wound care, and other nursing interventions
* Assist with procedures and treatments
* Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans
* Educate patients and families about their diagnosis, treatment options, and potential side effects
* Advocate for patients' needs and preferences
* Ensure continuity of care throughout the treatment process
* Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families
* Help patients understand their treatment plan and manage side effects
* Refer patients and families to appropriate resources and support services
* Address patients' concerns and questions
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
* Document patient assessments, treatments, and progress
* Participates in educational activity related to job function annually and provides documented evidence of attendance or activity to supervisor
* Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals
* Participate in research and clinical trials
* Participates in Operational/Regulatory activities
* Contribute to the implementation of nursing protocols and guidelines
* Stay current with the latest advancements in oncology care
* Employee is responsible for completing 12 oncology specific CNE's annually. (36 CNE's are required every 3 years to meet the Commission on Cancer guidelines from date of hire) CNE's are tracked by the employees nursing supervisor

What we need from you
Education:
* 2 Year/Associate Degree in Nursing, required
* 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred
* *All RN's hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor's prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years. RN's licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement
Experience:
* Minimum 1 year RN experience, required
* Minimum 1 year experience in Oncology, preferred
License/ Certification:
* NYS Licensure as a RegisteredNurse, required
* BLS Certification within 30 days from date of hire, required

Department/Unit: Critical Care Support Services Work Shift: Night (United States of America) Salary Range: $95,680.00 - $148,304.00 The "STAT" level Clinical Support Nurse is responsible for identifying the patient's alterations in health, assessing the patient's human response to actual and potential health problems, implementing nursing interventions to achieve outcomes for the patient that facilitate homeostasis, and determining the effectiveness of nursing interventions. The STAT Nurse makes independent decisions/judgments and takes action regarding a wide range of routine and complex patient problems and situations based on protocol. They will collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate, to coordinate continuity of patient care in support of medical and nursing plans of care. The STAT Nurse acts to support patient care needs in any acute medical/surgical unit, intensive care unit, and Emergency Department.
The STAT team is a group of critical care trained professional nurses who are available 24/7 for any issue within the hospital and medical college. STAT nurses provide specialized care to all patients, employees, and visitors requiring acute medical attention at Albany Medical Center and Albany Medical College. The team members also contribute their knowledge to educate staff, patients, and families to recognize clinical deterioration and how to make a proactive assessment and observation for patients at risk for deterioration. STAT team members give MOCK code training for nurses and ancillary staff to help facilitate better outcome in code situations.
STAT Nurses respond to:
Code stroke, Code Thrombectomy, Code STEMI, Code 10, Anesthesia Emergency, Code Blue, Code Malignant Hyperthermia, Code Pink, and Rapid Response pages. Any employee with questions about hospital policies, procedures, or patient care.
STAT Nurses will:
* Use problem focused physical exams to evaluate and treat patients according to protocols.
* Stabilize decompensating patients on the floor and in ICUs.
* Manage ICU patients on the floor.
* Facilitate movement of patients to higher level of care when needed.
* Use the chain of command when resolving issues.
* Assist visitors and staff to ED after a Code Gray.
* Administer IV push medications on applicable floors (ex. Cardizem, Amiodarone, Hydralazine).
Education Requirements:
Graduate of a professional academic nursing program. Holds current RN Registration to practice in the State of New York.
Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years recent Intensive Care clinical experience in specific patient populations served. BLS/ACLS certified.
Communication Skills:
Communicates effectively with patients, family members, employees, and others. Listens actively and verifies and clarifies messages. Seeks the input of others to achieve consensus. C. IRB
1. Prepare initial IRB submission documents to include: AMC Checklist, IRB application, study protocol, ICF,
advertisements, Investigator Brochure, patient diaries (paper or screen shots), patient questionnaires,
other patient facing materials
2. Submit the new protocol IRB submission to the ORA through the InfoEd portal and after approval submit
to the either WCG through Connexus Portal or approved IRB of record.
3. Prepare and submit annual continuing review reports and site termination report to the IRB of record
4. Prepare and submit any changes to the IRB approved study documents as requested by the study sponsor
to include protocol amendments, changes to the ICF, new versions of the Investigator Brochure, new or

D. Patient Interactions

Participate in or conduct the informed consent process and HIPAA authorization, per AMC SOP,
with research participants through discussion of the study protocol, procedures, timelines, risks, benefits
and answering any questions. Obtain the appropriate signatures and dates/time on the ICF form and
documents the process and file a copy in the patient's medical record. Assures that patients sign any future

The Registered Professional Nurse is responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team. The Medical Cardiology unit is a 29-bed unit consisting of 1 private room, 13 semi-private rooms and one 4-bed room. Patients are received from the Emergency Department, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, CCU, MICU, physician offices, and other facilities when inpatient admission is necessary.
The patient population served includes male and female, acute and chronically ill patients with a variety of cardiac and medical diagnoses. Most patients admitted to the unit require telemetry monitoring after receiving minimally-invasive and invasive cardiac procedures. The age range is from young adult (18 years) to geriatric (100+) years.

Department/Unit: Vascular Surgery -C5 Work Shift: Night (United States of America) Salary Range: $83,200.00 - $93,184.00 Albany Medical Center is the first hospital in the US to be verified by the Society of Vascular Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons as a Comprehensive Vascular Surgical Center. There are two Vascular Surgery Units at AlbanyMed. The primary disease focus includes patients with vascular disease and other surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring. The patients frequently encountered may be acute or chronically ill with multiple co-morbidities and/or in hypercoagulable states. The age of this population ranges between 18 and 90+ with the majority of the patients between 45-65 years. Plans of care frequently used include but are not limited to: Carotid Endarterectomy, Lower Extremity Revascularization, Renal Stenting, and Vascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repairs.
