What you'll do
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a vital member of the healthcare team, responsible for delivering compassionate, hands-on patient care while also supporting essential administrative and communication functions of the unit. This hybrid role ensures smooth unit operations and promotes a safe, organized, and patient-centered care environment.
* Provide direct care under the supervision of the RN/LPN, including hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and comfort.
* Monitor and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
* Answer unit phones and serve as a liaison between patients, families, medical staff, and ancillary departments.
* Manage admissions, discharges, and transfers within the EMR system.
* Maintain accurate and organized patient records, charts, and logs.
* Order and restock supplies; maintain cleanliness and readiness of unit.
* Support coordination of tests, procedures, and patient transport.
* Safety Attendant (SA) at bedside for prevention of unintentional or intentional (suicide precautions) self-harm.
* Uphold confidentiality, professionalism, and exceptional customer service.
* Other duties as assigned
What we need from you

What you'll do
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a vital member of the healthcare team, responsible for delivering compassionate, hands-on patient care while also supporting essential administrative and communication functions of the unit. Responsibilities
Monitor Technician is responsible for observing the rhythm strip display/heart beats and electrocardiograms (EKG) of patients on the Telemetry unit/s document arrhythmias and immediately report findings to the unit, Registered Nurse and rapid response team as needed.
Duties include observing and interpreting Heart Monitors. The bulk of a monitor technicians work day is observing and interpreting the cardiac monitors of patients on the Telemetry units and alerting the Registered Nursing staff of all changes & becoming familiar with each patient's cardiac rhythm by running a rhythm strip of each patient at the beginning of each tour and when changes in rhythm occur. Monitor technicians perform EKG's on patients if needed.If a monitor tech notices any changes in the patient's heart readings or EKGs, they report them immediately to a Registered Nurse or Doctor via emergency red phone. The Monitor Technician will print a strip that is timed and dated. Update Patient Records. After taking new readings from the patient's heart monitors, the Monitor Technician is responsible for updating that patient's records. This will take place in Meditech as well as placing an EKG strip in the patients chart. The RN will co-sign EKG entries. Maintain Equipment. Monitor Technicians are responsible for cleaning their equipment, including EKG machines and heart monitors. They are also responsible for alerting the proper Point of Contact when their equipment needs maintenance. Monitor technicians are able to recognize and differentiate irregular patterns as they relate to the standard rhythm of a patient's heartbeat. Charged with monitoring up to 40 patients during a single shift, the Monitor Technician is able to multi-task. Monitor Technicians can recognize abnormalities in patient heart readings. Monitor Technicians are attentive and quick on their feet, and they react without hesitation to urgent situations. Written and verbal communication skills are necessary to be successful as a Monitor Technician, as people in these position document patients' statuses and relay this information to Doctors and Registered Nurses.This position requires that monitor techs are knowledgeable of hospital equipment as well as computer software. The Monitor Technician is responsible to notify the unit if lead failure occurs. Troubleshoot malfunctions of Central Monitor and notify repair service as needed.
