As our HVAC Estimator, you'll play a pivotal role in helping win jobs, setting realistic budgets, and ensuring our projects start off strong. You'll take ownership of cost-estimating HVAC systems (units, ducts, piping, controls, etc.), from the early walk-throughs to final bid submission. Your estimates will help the team scope work, evaluate options, and set the stage for successful project delivery.
Essential Functions:
Review project plans, specifications, design-build documents and work with the sales team to understand project scope, phasing, constraints, and client expectations.
Perform take-offs for HVAC systems: sheet metal, ductwork, piping (chilled/hot water, refrigerant, etc.), equipment, controls, labor, and subcontractor scopes.
Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes for equipment and material, maintain unit cost databases, and track historical estimating data.
Produce detailed cost estimates and bid packages-including labor, materials, equipment, overhead, allowances, contingency, and mark-up
Attend job walks / pre-bid meetings and site surveys to capture job-specific conditions, constraints, and build-ability issues.
Collaborate with project management, design team, and operations to verify constructability, schedule impacts, change order potential, and ensure budget alignment.
Maintain and update estimating logs, project cost history, and data for continuous improvement of estimate accuracy.
Provide value-engineering suggestions when appropriate: alternative materials, system layouts, labor efficiencies.
Support change order estimating and budget monitoring post-award when required.
Qualifications and Education:
Minimum 3 years estimating experience in commercial/industrial HVAC systems (or mechanical contracting).
Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and mechanical system plans.
Demonstrated experience performing HVAC take-offs and developing full system cost estimates (equipment, duct/piping, labor).
Proficient with estimating software (or willingness to learn) and Microsoft Office (Excel especially).
Familiarity with industry unit-cost databases a plus.
Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication (you'll interface with sales, subcontractors, vendors).
Self-motivated, able to manage multiple bids/projects concurrently under deadlines.
Ability to perform site visits if required. (Travel to job-walks, vendor visits, etc.)
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field-or equivalent combination of education + experience.
Preferred: Prior background in HVAC field (installer, service tech, foreman) is a plus (helps with understanding real-world labor/materials).

This is an on-site position based out of our corporate office in Anchorage, AK with flexibility for remote work as necessary.
Salary Range:
$80,000 - $95,000 + DOE

POSITION SUMMARY:
Integrity Kokosing Pipeline Services (IKPS) is looking for a Senior Estimator to join their team. IKPS is an Ohio based company offering a full range of construction services in the Natural Gas Market Place. The Senior Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, detailed, and competitive cost estimates for pipeline maintenance, rehabilitation, and integrity management projects. This position involves leading or coordinating all aspects of the estimating process, including reviewing specifications, drawings, and proposals; performing quantity takeoffs; and analyzing documentation to ensure alignment with company standards and client requirements.
The Senior Estimator will collaborate closely with Project Teams to support project planning, execution, and management across natural gas pipeline projects. This position is based out of the Fredericktown office, and regular on-site presence is required.

: This role will require regular/extensive travel within the project geographic region. For reference, Fredericktown/Columbus, OH is considered to be the central point of the territory, with prospective bids extending West into Indiana, south to Kentucky, east into Pennsylvania and Southeast to West Virginia. Some overnight stays are to be expected - company will pay for the hotel accommodations.**
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project as assigned
Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate
Prepare bid schedules of projects being estimated in Oracle Primavera (P6)
Review and incorporate historical data from productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures
Perform setup and entry of bid items, crew, production rates, material needs, subcontractor pricing, etc into a complete and reviewable estimate in HCSS Heavy Bid
Consult with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
Work with Company team members, owners and subcontractors to get commitment/consensus regarding proposed bids
Identify cost-saving opportunities, constructability issues, and potential risks during the estimating process
Obtain knowledge of project and appropriate regulations required to construct the project
Review list of work to be performed by subcontractors
Conduct bid review with operations and then review final estimate with Upper Management.
Monitor client changes and advise the estimating team of all changes in scope during the estimate period
Prepare Handoff materials to turn project over to Operations team to build the project(s)
Organize bid into appropriate phase codes and import/upload phase codes/costs/bid items into Viewpoint as the original budget
Follow awarded contracts as assigned - may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits
Advise on major changes in scope of work.
Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current/accurate information on prices from suppliers and subcontractors
Search and analyze options for most effective means and methods of construction
Understand best value approach to winning new work
Prepare bids, select vendors and/or subcontractors and determine cost effectiveness of projects to be bid
Set productive, consistent, and acceptable work example
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators and support staff
Lead or participate in internal estimating reviews and risk assessment meetings
Promote collaboration, accuracy, and integrity throughout the estimating process
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management preferred
3-5 years estimating experience for Pipeline or Facility projects (related to the Natural Gas Infrastructure) or heavy civil projects (Highway, Bridge, Retaining Wall, Utility, Sitework, Airport, or Rail infrastructure)
Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software preferred
Experience with Autodesk and Workday preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated leadership, communication and strong interpersonal skills are required
Ability to estimate multiple projects at the same time with proven time management skills
Ability to work independently or as a member of a team
Strong work ethic to complete tasks in a high-quality manner
Must be self-starter. IKPS is a small contractor, and individuals must be able to perform on their own for extended periods of time.

Collaborate with clients, design partners, vendors, and other project stakeholders to develop cost effective solutions on traditional and alternative contracting pursuits.
Analyze geotechnical reports to determine how ground conditions will impact operations and cost.
Review and analyze subcontractor and suppler quotes.
Prepare CPM schedules for assigned estimates.
Monitor client document changes (addenda) and advise the estimating team on changes.
Compose, track, and manage clarification correspondence with the client.
Prepare bid documents and pricing forms for submittal.
Track job-cost data on awarded contracts and compare to bid budgets.
Support project operations on extra work change orders.
Maintain records and working documents for estimating cost models, takeoff templates, etc.
Set productive and consistent work example for your peers.
Continually develop technical skills by attending owner, contractor, and engineering industry events
Stay current on equipment options, crew sizing, means, methods, and new processes within the construction industry.
Build and maintain good working relationships with industry partners.
Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
5 years related experience if not degreed in a related field of study.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Prior experience in estimating/engineering role on public and private construction projects is preferred.
Leadership, effective communication and strong interpersonal skills are requisite.
Ability to estimate multiple projects at the same time with proven time management skills.
Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
Strong work ethic to complete tasks accurately and on time.
Solid attention to detail with the ability to solve problems.
Knowledge of State DOTs preferred.
Strong proficiency in Primavera P6, Excel, Word, and Bluebeam is preferred.
Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software preferred.
