Associate of Applied Science degree Primary Goal: To provide occupational therapy services and appropriate intervention services to eligible students under the direction of a licensed supervisor. To maintain occupational therapy special education records and documentation as directed by a licensed supervisor. Performance Effectiveness: Instructional Program and Supports * Knowledge of habilitation and rehabilitation of sensory and fine motor disorders. * Implement the treatment program - individual / group therapy to students consistent with occupational therapy goals in Individual Education Plans (IEP) under the direction of the licensed supervisor. * Participate in determining student progress and readiness for termination of therapy services. * Collaborate with classroom teachers when requested to plan and implement classroom based activities to improve sensory and fine motor skills of students under the direction of the licensed supervisor. * Attend regularly scheduled occupational therapy meetings with a supervisor present. * Collect data, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. * Administer routine tests as directed by supervisor when the licensed supervisor has assured proper training and administration of such tests (including screenings). * Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rules and State Board of Examiners Licensing Board for Occupational Therapy. * Assist in the selection of materials, equipment, and other instructional material. * Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of students. * Establish control and administer discipline according to board policies and administrative regulations. * Submit schedules or reports as requested including medicaid and inventory reporting . * Conduct duties within required timelines. * Ability to travel to multiple work locations as assigned * Provide occupational therapy services as specified in the occupational therapy plan of care. Performance Effectiveness: Community/Parent / Student Communication * Assist parents and students regarding techniques and strategies. * Collaborate with local agencies, medical or other professionals as needed. * Coordinate with local ECI programs as appropriate. * Assist with Child Find as requested. * Assist the special education director in assigned duties. Personal Effectiveness * Take initiative to assist student, parent, or teacher as appropriate. * Works in harmony with peers and associates. * Responds to suggestions for improvement in a positive manner. * Displays professionalism in dealing with students, parents, staff, and community. * Is punctual. * Maintains good attendance. * Maintains a professional appearance. * Mentally alert and physically able to perform the job functions. * Displays self-control and tact. * Collaborates in problem solving. * Follows district guidelines as instructed including confidentiality of student records. * Seeks professional growth through continuing education and staff development. * Performs other duties as assigned.
