The policy outlines the process by which the employee will be evaluated to ensure that the employee is meeting minimum job level requirements to maintain their current level on the career ladder, a mechanism for the employee to advance up the ladder or for management to adjust their level down if the employee does not meet the minimum requirements for their current level. The Radiology Career Ladder Chart Radiology Career Ladder Chart gives an overview of each ladder requirements while the Radiology Career Ladder Evaluation Request Radiology Career Ladder Evaluation Request Form is where the employee documents achievements and obtains approval to maintain same level or advance to next level. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be a high school graduate or equivalent and enrolled in a contracted formal educational program Required to complete two (2) hours of hospital provided continuing education hours upon hire and annually for Advanced Sterile Processing Certification. Education will focus on the handling of soiled instrumentation at the point of use and storage of instrumentation for sterile processing department pick-up LANGUAGE SKILLS: Requires the ability to read and analyze information. Requires the ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from all Hospital's publics. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily. The Ultrasound Technologist will perform a wide variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures, will provide support for other imaging technologists as needed, and help to facilitate smooth and efficient patient flow. The Ultrasound Technologist must be able to handle the movement, set-up, and operation of medical ultrasound equipment. The technologist will demonstrate flexibility by working other shifts and/or at other campuses as needed or required. The technologist must be able to troubleshoot basic maintenance, participate in QA, and resolve issues related to image processing and the image archiving system. Expectation to participate in ongoing education, safety, and technical advances within their scope of licensure. The technologist will adhere to, and maintain, the expected imaging competencies as outlined by management. Performs examinations/procedures as needed to assist in patient throughput within the scope of the Manager's license(s), certification(s), and/or documented competencies. Demonstrates flexibility by working other shifts and at other campuses as needed or required. Ensures completed exams are scanned and stored correctly in PACS. Ability to follow PACS downtime procedures as a PACS Superuser and escalate any problem(s) or issue(s) to the PACS administrator or Designee if needed. Troubleshoots and reports any equipment malfunctions to the Director/Manager and/or Biomedical personnel; does appropriate follow-up. Responsible for promoting teamwork with physicians and personnel of other departments. Responsible for solving practical problems, dealing with a variety of issues and interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form. Demonstrates clinical knowledge and judgment regarding patient's care. SHIFT AND SCHEDULE M-F 7 am to 4:30 pm with on call hours required ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS Obtain pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data to facilitate diagnostic results. Perform Cardiac Ultrasound procedures (Echocardiograms, TEE and StressEchoes) according to the departments written Policies and Procedures.; Perform Vascular Ultrasound procedures (Carotid Duplex exams, Venous Duplex exams,Arterial duplex exams and Segmental pressures exams) according to the departments written Policies and Procedures. Assess and evaluate ultrasound images and related data according to established standards and guidelines. Complete a through report of each procedure obtained providing accurate, timely and complete documentation. Ensure proper recording, documentation, confidentiality and transmission of patient's medical information. Reasoning capabilities to interpret a variety of technical instructions, evaluate technical data and compose correspondence and work-related technical reports. Ability to read, analyze and interpret the patient's medical record and apply critical thinking skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from medical staff,managers, patients, families, and the general public. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Registered in both Adult Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound. Up to 5 years of experience in adult echocardiography and vascular ultrasound, preferred. Comprehensive computer knowledge & skills. Technicians performing transesophageal echocardiograms will be required to complete one (1) hour of hospital provided continuing education upon hire and annually for Advanced Sterile Processing Certification. Education will focus on the handling of soiled probes at the point of use, probe transportation and disinfection practices to be followed. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential responsibility satisfactorily.
