Maintenance/Custodial/Custodian GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The position is responsible for supporting the efficient operation and maintenance of the building and following the work schedule outlined by the Supervisor. Perform preventive maintenance as instructed by the Supervisor. Complete work orders as assigned. Maintain all custodial storage and mop rooms. Communicate daily with night lead custodian regarding use of the facility after hours, special cleaning needs, or feedback about general conditions. Use hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including brooms, mops, floor cleaning and waxing machines, vacuum cleaners, snow blowers, shovels, and hand tools. Maintain the appearance of grounds as needed or assigned (mowing of grass, watering of grass/plants, trimming of bushes, snow and ice removal from walks, sweeping of walks, etc.). Follow all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used in the performance of duties. Work with Supervisor to ensure the general safety of building and equipment including proper storage of materials and products. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Building & Grounds. Adhere to safety measures for cleaning, lifting, moving, and operating equipment. Prepare for school and district functions (set up/clean up). Assist Supervisor in maintaining inventory and requesting cleaning supplies and materials needed to accomplish assigned tasks. Inspect facility and equipment to detect and prevent injuries or damage. Provide direction, feedback, and guidance that will enable crews to perform their job requirements as directed by Supervisor and/or CSBO. Advise Supervisor on matters relating to mechanical equipment and/or building maintenance. Move furniture including chairs, tables, desks and equipment within the building as required for various activities. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash and waste. Perform emergency repairs and/or cleaning services as needed.
