Job Description Summary
This is a HOT role in our brand-new Copper & Brass Sales Division! As a Manufacturing ProcessEngineer, you'll serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on advanced equipment and automation systems, including PLC-controlled routers, waterjets, CNC machines, saws, and robots. You'll lead process improvements, optimize manufacturing methods, and drive efficiency in a high-impact environment.
Key Accountabilities
* Act as SME for equipment requiring PLC (routers, waterjets, CNC machines, saws, robots).
* Evaluate and develop manufacturing processes through research, design, and collaboration with vendors and operators.
* Provide decision-making insights by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing schedules; and forecasting requirements.
* Prepare product and process reports by analyzing trends and data.
* Ensure compliance with government regulations and maintain product reputation.
* Keep equipment operational through proactive maintenance coordination and adherence to manufacturer guidelines.
* Oversee product and process databases, including programming and data entry.
* Lead development of an apprenticeship program and formal internship initiatives for new employees.
* Drive process improvement initiatives, problem resolution, and employee training.
* Improve manufacturing methods for cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency.
* Maintain detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
* Assist in improving systems related to production control, SOPs, safety, and quality standards.
* May rotate shifts initially for training purposes.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Technology preferred; Associate degree in Engineering discipline acceptable.
* 3-5 years of experience in a technical or manufacturing field (equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree).
* Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design.
* Familiarity with manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques.
* Ability to work independently and self-motivate.
* Commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
* Strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Preferred Requirements:
* Proficiency in relevant software (CAD, MS Office).

Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead, implement, and maintain global construction field welding programs and provide specialized welding engineering support. You will manage, inspect, and monitor the welding test lab, the rod room, the weld heat treatment program, and the laboratory quality plan. Your technical advice will help ensure defects, behaviors, and other issues are rectified prior to final inspection. #LI-BH1
Major Responsibilities:
Supports the Project Field Engineer and the Lead Field Welding engineer in implementing the site welding program on small projects Implements and maintains Bechtel Field Welding program for all welding operations.
Provides technical assistance to field supervision and craft.
Provides support to ensure construction meets all code, specifications, and Bechtel procedures.
Provies technical knowledge for ASME, API, and AWS or other code designed and fabricated items.

work closely with professional and technical staff to perform and lead complex program assignments for developing regulations to control air pollutants (including those contributing to climate change and local air quality impacts in overburdened communities)
work with the California Air Resources Board, other local air districts, community groups, community members, environmental organizations, regulated industries, and other key stakeholders to reduce harmful air pollutants, especially in communities overburdened by air pollution
lead, conduct, and coordinate scientific, economic, and technical research work
review and draft regulatory language, develop and implement cost effectiveness and incremental cost effectiveness calculations for a wide variety of sources in an industry with various control options
analyze emissions inventories to determine baseline emissions and reduction estimates for rules under development
brief Air District executives and present at workshops and board meetings
work closely with the Community Engagement Division staff and other Air District divisions to strengthen partnerships with key community stakeholders

Engineering Division
The Engineering Division evaluates permit applications and reviews permit renewals for equipment and operations that emit air pollutants within the Air District's jurisdiction. It provides technical support to other programs and assists businesses, trade associations, agencies, environmental groups, and community members with permitting and compliance issues. The division is responsible for implementing the Air District's Facility Risk Reduction Program to reduce health risks from existing facilities or sources. The position will work on the Air District's Toxic Air Contaminant (TAC) Control Programs, designed to identify, assess, and reduce public exposure to toxic air contaminants. The programs integrate federal, state, and local regulations to:
Monitor and evaluate TAC emissions from permitted facilities through annual emissions inventories and health risk assessments
Implement the Air Toxics New Source Review (NSR) program, requiring preconstruction review and risk assessment for new or modified TAC sources
Operate Facility Risk Reduction Programs, targeting existing facilities to identify, assess, and reduce health risks, especially in communities with disproportionate air quality impacts
Engage with community stakeholders and provide transparent access to emissions data and health risk information through annual reports and online tools
These efforts have led to significant reductions in health risks from toxic air contaminants across the Bay Area. The Engineering Division also engages in programs and projects including, but not limited to:
Dispersion modeling and health risk assessments for toxic emissions
Verification of emissions inventories
Database development and data management

The Principal Air Quality Engineer for the Engineering Division may perform other complex and highly specialized air quality engineering work, including:

About the Role:

Responsibilities
Oversee the delivery of glass to the Process Group, ensuring it meets required standards for viscosity, temperature, and chemical composition.
Manage furnace operations to maintain optimal performance, proper maintenance, and efficient process settings.
Oversee and maintain the inventory of refractory materials to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Stay up-to-date on the relationship between glass chemistry and its properties to drive process improvements.
Supervise the plant's recycled water system, including filtration, treatment, and disposal, ensuring compliance with environmental and operational standards.
Conduct in-depth technical analyses of manufacturing and process data, leveraging insights to enhance processes and exceed customer expectations.
Plan, coordinate, and execute furnace maintenance and repair activities, utilizing both internal and external resources effectively.
Manage all batch house operations, including raw material unloading, mixing, and overall process efficiency.
Monitor and maintain raw material inventory to support uninterrupted production.
Continuously identify and implement innovative ideas and methods to improve manufacturing capabilities, efficiency, and productivity.
Collaborate with the ProcessEngineering Manager to execute projects aimed at achieving departmental goals, including cost reduction, productivity improvements, process optimization, capacity expansion, scrap reduction, and product enhancements.
Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects focused on process and product optimization, innovation, cost efficiency, and other strategic business initiatives.

Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Ceramic Engineering, or a related field.
Lean Certifications and/or Green/Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in Process or Manufacturing Engineering within a similar environment.
Industry experience in glass or insulation manufacturing is highly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of chemistry as it applies to glass, binder, and wash water processes in manufacturing.
Familiarity with furnace and fiberization processes is preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of machinery design, functionality, and large industrial equipment.
Proficiency in SAP and Minitab is preferred.
Solid understanding of manufacturing regulations, standards, and Continuous Improvement methodologies, including Lean Six Sigma tools.
Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skills.
Strong organizational and project management capabilities.
Effective communication skills to collaborate across all levels of the plant, as well as with Corporate Engineering and R&D teams.
Ability to interpret and create technical drawings, write work instructions, and develop procedures.
Skilled in directing maintenance and repair activities for equipment.
Hands-on approach with a collaborative mindset to engage with employees and identify process or system improvements.
Leadership and coaching abilities to guide and develop team members.
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to handle conflict resolution professionally.
