The purpose of this job is to perform a variety of entry-level engineering duties related to the management of a construction project and/or assist the Estimating department by performing quantity take-offs for construction estimates. Responsibilities: 1. Notifies subcontractors of commencement dates; solicits delivery schedules from suppliers and expedites deliveries to avoid costly construction delays 2. Participates in the proposed changes process by preparing quantity take-offs 3. Assists in preparation of the submittal schedule as required to meet construction schedule and coordinates submissions with subcontractors; assumes overall responsibility for submittals, including checking for accuracy, transmittals to and from subcontractors, architects, and superintendents, and maintains logs; expedites delivery of submittals when necessary to avoid delays in construction; keeps project manager abreast of submissions that will impact schedule 4. Prepares and/or oversees preparation of a number of reports dealing with the project such as material logs, submittal logs, RFI logs, drawing logs and long- lead items log as required by owners and/or company operating procedures 5. Assists in the verification of monthly subcontractor payment requests 6. May assume a role in locating suppliers for various building materials; reviews invoices upon request to verify quantity, quality and prices for construction materials 7. Responds to requests for information (RFIs) from owners and subcontractors, preparing RFIs for the project architect and/or structural engineer of record when necessary to clarify technical issues concerning the project; ensures that information received in response to RFIs is routed to the applicable field superintendent and subcontractors 8. Assists in compiling close-out documents including as-built drawings, guarantees, warranties, service manuals and other related documents for delivery to the owner; may prepare Austin's warranty for inclusion in this package and assist in preparing other close-out documents as assigned 9. When not assigned to a project, the PE II generally is assigned to the Estimating Department, preparing detailed cost estimates; may assist with value engineering activities and the pricing of those alternate procedures; interacts with a wide variety of construction professionals, including owner representatives, architects, structural engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, etc. 10. Participates in jobsite safety as outlined in company's Safety & Health Manual 11. Distribute change requests for pricing and schedule impact. Prepare draft proposed change pricing inclusive of cost and schedule evaluations. Maintain proposed changes in the project change order log. Maintain accurate documentation of inspections and quality reviews in the UFS Cost and Productivity Management Analyze and be responsible for budget and quantity updates for job cost reporting Review and approve daily time and quantity reporting to insure accurate job cost reporting Assist in establishing and maintaining job cost reporting in accordance with company policy. Produce and review productivity reports with the project team at regular intervals and ensure that management is kept up-to-date on unit costs and schedule attainment for the work and how it compares with the budget. Assist the superintendent in the development of Work Plans Scheduling Ensure timely procurement and delivery of all required construction materials and permanent materials in support of project schedule requirements. Assist in developing the project schedule. Update and maintain schedule as job progresses. Ensure schedule is updated to incorporate change orders, field performance, availability of construction materials, and other factors that may impact the project schedule.
