    The Workforce Development Direct Support Professional is under the supervision of the Program Manager/ Program Director and is responsible for planning and conducting lessons and activities for associates drawn from the Productive and Personally Meaningful Life (PPML) Plans/ Person Centered Plans. The Direct Support Professional plays an integral role in supporting associates to: utilize effective communication systems; develop positive relationships with others; become valued, contributing members of the community; work toward achievement of their work and life's goals, and attain a true community-based, integrated, quality of life, which includes competitive, integrated employment. One key group of DSPs are our Individualized Workforce Development Instructors, who work one-on-one with clients at a variety of sites and local college campuses (LAVC, Pierce, Mission, COC, CSUN, GCC) throughout the San Fernando Valley and surrounding areas (including Santa Clarita, Canoga Park and Agoura Hills.) Most positions include driving and/or transporting clients to and from sites and campuses. (Mileage reimbursement is provided for use of personal vehicles.) MTA travel may be required for some locations. The Workforce Development Direct Support Professional is expected to become familiar with all of the associates he/she serves so that he/she can make valuable contributions to Productive and Personally Meaningful Life (PPML)/Individual PATH/Rehabilitation/Habilitation/Service Plans, Person-Centered Planning meetings and Circle of Support meetings. Principle Areas of Responsibility: Provide small group and one-on-one training of individuals in specific job skills and general work behaviors. Ensure that all assigned job duties are consistently completed according to employer standards and expectations. Maintain regular communication with employers regarding their satisfaction with employee performance, work schedules and quality assurance. Conduct job analysis in cooperation with employers. Provide supervision and training to associates in community access skills. Provide supervision and training to associates in self-advocacy and social/leisure skills. Provide mobility training. Assist associates in accessing a variety of community locations using company/personal vehicles/public transportation. Part-Time DSP schedules are available and flexible with the option to work extra hours as needed or available. Monday through Friday and weekend availibility. These hours and duties are subject to change based on program needs and may include weekends, holidays and evening hours to meet associate, employer and stakeholder expectations. For this position, staff will have a 30 minute working lunch when actively supporting associates. A working lunch agreement will be on file. Qualifications: Three years of good driving experience, a valid California driver's license, personal vehicle with seatbelts to safely accommodate up to 4 passengers, and vehicle insurance is also required. Candidate must have a sincere desire to help others be successful. High School Diploma or higher. A Bachelor's degree in the field of Social Service/Rehabilitation is a plus. Experience in providing training/support to individuals with developmental disabilities a plus. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of task analysis/assessment/positive behavior supports and clear written and verbal communication skills. Primary Duties: Direct Support Assist, Instruct, supervise and/or monitor the client to complete the following: Comparative shopping Paying bills within a monthly budget Problem solving Socialization Cooking Reporting to SSI Reporting to DPSS Reporting to DMV Reporting to the Regional Center Reporting to work Washing/drying laundry Enrolling in classes Travel training Reporting special incidents Household chores/maintenance Provide support and/or physical assistance for those who require it: Lifting Transferring Toileting Hygiene/bathing Medication monitoring Medical Appointments Understanding and complying with physician's instructions and diagnoses Work in higher intensive caseloads with clients who require extra support and assistance Complete daily care notes in Therap (or current platform) by end of assigned shift Accurately report all hours of work via TASC's time tracking system Meet with Program Director/Coordinator to write/compose semi-annual and annual reports to funding sources Training Attend all mandatory ILS/SLS staff trainings and events Also encouraged to attend all other staff trainings/meetings Responsible for completing and presenting two trainings to the team within every 12-month period Other Duties Perform other duties as assigned Perform other off-site duties as assigned Participate in weekly meetings, trainings, etc. as assigned by the supervisor Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma (or GED) Must have organizational skills, writing skills, oral communication Self-motivated and a willingness to participate in independent and supported living service settings. Must have clean DMV record and reliable transportation with current insurance coverage, if required to drive for position Must be able to successfully complete First Aid/CPR Must receive criminal record clearance through the DOJ Maintain all certifications up to date Ability to work effectively as a team member Other qualifications may vary by client's needs, and may include physical assistance, lifting, toileting, medication monitoring, etc. Physical Requirements: Ability to drive company and/or personal vehicle for work, including transporting clients to and from work and/or appointments as needed, maintain valid driver's license and car insurance, if required to drive for position. Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.     The Workforce Development Direct Support Professional with Behavioral Support Component is under the supervision of the Program Manager/Program Director, and is responsible for planning and conducting lessons and activities for associates drawn from the Productive and Personally Meaningful Life (PPML) Plans/ Person Centered Plans, who are eligible for services under the Behavior Management criteria. The Direct Support Professional plays an integral role in supporting associates to: utilize effective communication systems; develop positive relationships with others; become valued, contributing members of the community; work toward achievement of their life's goals, and attain a true community-based, integrated, quality of life. The Workforce Development Direct Support Professional with Behavioral Support Component is expected to become familiar with all of the associates he/she serves so that he/she can make valuable contributions to Productive and Personally Meaningful Life (PPML)/Individual PATH/ Rehabilitation/ Habilitation/Service Plans, Person-Centered Planning meetings and Circle of Support meetings. The DSPs with Behavioral Support are expected to be well-versed in Positive Behavioral Supports. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide small group and one-on-one training of individuals in specific job skills and general work behaviors. Ensure that all assigned job duties are consistently completed according to employer standards and expectations. Maintain regular communication with employers regarding their satisfaction with employee performance, work schedules and quality assurance. Conduct job analysis in cooperation with employers. Provide supervision and training to associates in community access skills. Provide supervision and training to associates in self-advocacy and social/leisure skills. Provide mobility training. Assist associates in accessing a variety of community locations using company/personal vehicles/public transportation. Effectively and consistently implement behavior support plans; encouraging and reinforcing positive replacement behaviors. Consistently implement behavioral reinforcement plans to increase associate success. Maintain conscientious, responsible level of supervision of associate behavior/safety at all times, including scheduled break, lunch and bus duty. Demonstrate an understanding of the “big picture” and long-term outcomes for associates, with an understanding that an intensive intervention process may need to be implemented, rather than settling for a “quick fix”. This position is currently scheduled at 35-37 hours per week. Typical projected work hours for this position are 7:45 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For this position, staff will have a 30 minute working lunch when actively supporting associates. A working lunch agreement will be on file. These hours and duties are subject to change. Qualifications: Three years of good driving experience, a valid California driver's license, personal vehicle with seatbelts to safely accommodate up to 4 passengers, and vehicle insurance is also required. Candidate must have a sincere desire to help others be successful. Current certification in CPR/First Aid & Handle with Care Training. (We will provide) Must successfully complete 40 hours of Positive Behavioral Support training. (We will provide) High School Diploma or higher. A Bachelor's degree in the field of Social Service/Rehabilitation is a plus. Experience in providing training/support to individuals with developmental disabilities a plus. Must demonstrate a working knowledge of task analysis/assessment/positive behavior supports and clear written and verbal communication skills.
