The Behavioral Health Technician provides basic nursing care, aids with activities of daily living, and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment, under the direction and supervision of the Director of BHT's, Charge Nurse and Director of Nursing. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Minimum two (2) years of education (or experience) focused on nursing, psychology, social service, medicine or related field preferred. Obtains artifact free sleep tracings that accurately reflect physiologic processes occurring during sleep of patients utilizing the latest technology. 2. Analyzes all types of sleep records of patients. Identifies and documents sleep stages and quantify physiologic processes during the data acquisition and summarizes this information as outlined by departmental policies and procedures. 3. Ensures an accurate and readable recording using deductive reasoning to trouble shoot minor problems and make adjustments as needed during the testing process. 4. Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information in order to perform the appropriate study prescribed by the physician as outlined by departmental policies and procedures. 5. Assists with the development of department policies, procedures and processes, facilitate testing and maintain quality to achieve optimal patient results. 6. Assists leadership with operations, scheduling, orientation and/or training of new technical staff. May conduct or lead educational in-services and case study presentations. 7. Ensures quality assurance standards as outlined by departmental policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory agencies. 8. Independently performs prescribed diagnostic sleep monitoring, which may include home sleep test, to patients and acts as a resource to the department. This incumbent provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contributes to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records. The position also performs a variety of support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department. CORE FUNCTIONS 1. Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution. 6. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order. 7. Based on area of assignment may assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care unit. Participates in room turnover. 8. Supports a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on customer service. Interacts with staff at all levels, as well as patients, families, and physicians. Required Education and Experience - BLS CPR AED certification within 30 days of hire Preferred Education and Experience - CNA, LNA, PCT, and/or EMT-B license - 1+ years of experience in a clinical setting OSHA Exposure Category: Involves exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
