    Title: Educational Support Personnel - Media Center Teacher Aide Department: Library/Media Classification: ESP - Teacher Aide Level 3 Assignment: ESP 181 days, 7.5 hours per day FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Director of Library and Media Center Specialist Location: Highland Park High School Pay: $22.00/hour Summary: The Media Center Teacher Aide is responsible for assisting the Media Center team in recording and editing video, audio, and photo projects, supervising students on set and in the Library Media Center, and assisting in the maintenance, production, and publishing of school media. Qualifications: Minimum of 30 hours of college credit is preferred. ISBE license required (PARA, SUB, ELS-CTE or PEL) registered with Lake County ROE. Experience working with high school students is preferred. Spanish-speaking ability preferred. Must have video production and editing experience. Must have camera operation and videography experience. Must have the ability to take direction, work collaboratively, and/or produce a video from start to finish. Experience in at least one of the following is required: education, broadcast journalism, event coverage, live production, multimedia marketing, or documentary filmmaking. Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Cloud is preferred, but not required. Live production (broadcast or live streaming) experience is preferred Gaffing, grip, and studio lighting experience is preferred. Experience mentoring and working with students in a production environment is preferred. Photography or audio engineering experience is a bonus. High School or University media experience is a bonus. Must have interest in media production and instructional technology. Must be patient, flexible, student centered, and mission driven. Excellent customer service aptitude and skills. Possess common sense, problem-solving skills and reasoning ability to appropriately deal with supervisory situations. The ability to set goals and establish methods for achieving these goals. The ability to work collaboratively with staff and students who engage with the Media Center. Essential Functions: The criteria indicated below are intended to describe various types of work that may be performed. Collaborate effectively with staff and students to deliver high-quality media services and foster a cooperative learning environment. Use positive behavior management to promote a respectful, productive climate. Build rapport with students and staff to encourage full utilization of Media Center resources. Adapt comfortably to support students with diverse learning needs. Assist the media center specialist to produce and manage video content to tell the school's story, including coverage of fine arts, athletics, and other events during the school day. Work with Media Center staff to create promotional materials and livestream school events. Assist with video editing tasks and selecting b-roll footage. Check out media equipment to staff and students, providing usage instruction. Participate in setup, takedown, and monitoring of complex studio, lighting, and A/V livestream setups for events. Help maintain Media Center space, studio, and equipment, ensuring brand standards across all media. Supervise and assist students in the Library Media Center as needed. Perform clerical duties such as processing materials, assembling packets and equipment, and conducting inventories. Support the upkeep of the Media Center's physical appearance and usability. Assist teachers with A/V needs for curricular purposes. Willingly learn to assist students with software and equipment. Carry out additional administrative or clerical tasks related to the Media Center as assigned. Language Skills Communicates clearly both in oral and written format with all constituents of the District 113 community. Effectively present information and respond to questions from constituency groups. Apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Mathematical and Technical Skills Calculate figures, estimates, proportions, percentages, and cost projections. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Strong technology skills, including standard Microsoft Office suite / Google Workspace, financial management, and data analysis. Reasoning Ability Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of verbal and written instructions and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables. Contacts Outside Your Own Department: Build positive relationships with constituents of the District 113 community that includes, teachers, school staff, administrative team, Board of Education, guardians, students, and private providers. Physical and Mental Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, write, type, speak, listen, and taste or smell. The employee is regularly required to communicate with staff and others. The employee is frequently required to use hands and/or fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls. The employee may occasionally be required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Specific psychological demands of this job include the ability to remain calm under stress levels associated with job demands, along with constant contact with students, colleagues and the public. Working Conditions: In the work environment, this role is regularly exposed to school and office environmental conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with regular exposure to loud classrooms, hallways, cafeterias or sports venues. The employee is regularly required to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and staff in addition to meeting multiple demands from several people. The employee is frequently required to work irregular or extended work hours, which may include evenings or weekends.     Teacher Assistant/Teacher Assistant Date Available: ASAP Closing Date: ASAP Position Overview Teacher Assistants play a vital role in the educational team, supporting teachers and students to ensure a positive, productive learning environment. This position involves working alongside professional colleagues to enhance classroom instruction and provide individualized or small-group support for students, including English language learners and those with special needs. Key Responsibilities of Attendance Interventionist Monitors and analyzes student attendance data to identify patterns and concerns. Collaborates with students, families, and staff to address barriers to regular attendance. Implements intervention plans to improve student engagement and attendance outcomes. Promotes awareness of attendance expectations and compliance with district and state requirements. Fosters positive relationships that encourage consistent school participation and academic success. Qualifications Possess or have the ability to acquire appropriate licensure in Illinois to serve as a paraprofessional Paraprofessionals meet qualifications by possessing either of the following: A Short-term Approval as a Paraprofessional (Reference this ISBE document for information) A Paraprofessional Educator Endorsement (Reference this ISBE document for information) A Substitute teacher license (Reference this ISBE document for information) A Professional Educator License Prior experience in an educational or child care setting is beneficial Ability to work collaboratively and follow teacher instructions Strong communication and organizational skills Commitment to maintaining professionalism, punctuality, and confidentiality Willingness to complete required licensure and training, including Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Ability to meet physical requirements, such as assisting with mobility needs when necessary Highly organized and a self starter Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel, and internet research Degree in education, social work, counseling, or related field preferred Compensation and Benefits Competitive hourly wage based with a starting rate on the Teacher Assistant Salary Schedule at Step 0 with no experience as a teacher or paraprofessional or Step 1 with one or more years of experience as a teacher or paraprofessional Comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees.
