To increase student proficiency in reading and math, the Academy at Middle Fork is hiring math and literacy tutors to provide one-on-one and small group tutoring to students performing below grade level. Students will be identified for tutoring based on their performance on weekly common assessments in reading and math. Tutoring services for students in kindergarten through fifth grade will be provided on Fridays during the weekly Enrichment Day. Priority will be given to students in third through fifth grades.
The Tutor is responsible for providing academic tutoring and interventions with small groups and/or individual students. They are a problem solver, solution-oriented staff member with a growth mindset focused on providing support to students to improve outcomes. They work extensively with students to help them improve targeted academic skills through the implementation of evidence-based strategies. The intended outcome of the interventions is student growth and success.

Be very discreet in your comments concerning the school, its staff, students, and parents. Constructive criticism can be valuable to the schools and will be accepted in that light. No doubt there will be times when, as a substitute teacher, you will feel the duty to “report.” However, the time to report is immediately; the place is at the school, and the principal should be the one to receive the report.
Notify the principal's office immediately should an accident or severe problems occur.
Confer with the regular classroom teachers concerning matters with which they may assist.
Keep the atmosphere of the room as nearly normal as possible by following the regularly scheduled activities and teaching plans.
Discipline:
Be calm and unemotional; be firm and fair. (Give a student a chance to explain his/her actions.) Explain the reasons for any penalty or punishment.
You may deny the student privileges for misbehaving.
Do not embarrass the student as a form of punishment. Try to handle the situation privately.
Do not use unusual forms of punishment.
Do not in any case use physical discipline of any type.
Report serious problems to the principal's office immediately.
Do not punish the group for the actions of one.
If students are busy with some worthwhile materials, discipline problems seldom develop. The substitute should be pleasant but firm.
Complete the day's assignment by:
Leaving the teacher's desk and room in order.
Leave a note explaining how the day went, any problems, etc. Include any assignment(s) not completed during the day and any absences during the day.
Returning equipment and materials to proper places.
Closing windows, adjusting shades/curtains and turning off lights.
Leaving keys, if any, in the office.
Reporting any occurrence that appears not to be normal.
