    Job Summary: In collaboration with the Director of Veterinary and Foster Care and the Manager of Veterinary and Foster Care, the Specialist will assist with monitoring the health of all the animals in the care of the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) and will be expected to assist with animal intake exams, collect blood/urine/fecal samples, administer medication and treatments, become certified to perform euthanasia, and will be jointly responsible for the administering of medications and treatments prescribed by the Shelter Veterinarian. The Specialist will work closely with partner Foster Coordinator so that there is coverage for the Foster Department every day of the week, ensuring that animals (including neonates, injured/sick animals and animals with behavior issues) who need more care than can be provided within the shelter are placed in appropriate foster homes in a timely manner. Additionally, when foster duties allow, the Specialist will assist the Shelter Veterinarian and Surgical Veterinary Technician with pre and post surgical duties, and may occasionally assist with surgical monitoring tasks. WORK SCHEDULE: 10 hours per day, Wednesday thru Saturday ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: This position is supervised by: Veterinary and Foster Care Manager The following position identified report to this position: Foster volunteers Requirements ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB INCLUDE: Veterinary Care: Perform a walk-through each day to check on all animals in the shelter and with direction from the Director of Veterinary and Foster Care, follow up on any medical concerns identified during walk through and/or by staff/volunteers; Working with the Veterinary and Foster Care Manager and Coordinator, ensure animals are medicated as prescribed by the shelter veterinarian and start medications when appropriate using in-shelter drug protocol; Support the veterinary staff with animal restraint, blood draws, sample preparation and submission, administering medications, assisting with pharmacy tasks. Work with Director of Veterinary and Foster Care and Shelter Veterinarian to become certified to perform euthanasia; Ensure all animals (as appropriate) are vaccinated against rabies; Work with the Director of Veterinary and Foster Care and the Veterinary and Foster Care Manager to improve animal care protocols as it relates to veterinary care; Fill medications prescribed by the veterinarian Performing intake examinations on all animals and under guidance of the Director of Veterinary and Foster Care, and the Veterinary and Foster Manager ensuring records are up to date and entered into database Follow through on standard shelter protocols (for instance entering dewormers in Chameleon, making labels, and filling these medications) Communication of medical plans to fosters and appropriate scheduling for recheck appointments Documentation of communications in Chameleon (from fosters when animals are brought in with health concerns; from veterinarian when instructions are received by phone, email, or text) Complete an initial assessment of a patient if a concern is brought to the medical team's attention by a foster (and sometimes other shelter staff), and then communicate the problem and assessment to the Director of Veterinary and Foster Care, and the Veterinary and Foster Manager. Some cleaning duties - In order to limit the spread of infectious disease, it is important that every effort is made to clean surfaces and equipment between exams. All members of the team are expected to contribute to this effort. Other tasks as assigned Foster Care Volunteer Recruitment, Orientation, Training and Support - Help maintain shelter's established foster database by ensuring that the following are performed: Return calls and respond to inquiries, messages and emails from existing and prospective foster volunteers in a timely manner, in addition to inquiries and messages regarding the foster program Serve as a point of contact for foster volunteers, foster mentors, and foster program supporters. Provision of case management services as required by Standards for Regulation of Children's Residential Facilities - 12 VAC 35-46-360. Coordinate the provision of medical, dental, and psychological services on a routine and emergency basis. Facilitate the development and monitoring of all service plans, including the production of ITP's and Quarterly Reviews based on standard protocol input from service providers. Participate in Treatment Team decisions. Consult on a regular basis with residential staff, counselors, and educational staff to ensure client is receiving optimal services and to review and discuss those areas needing attention. May be required to attend conferences, meetings, and/or court hearings. Required to be available on weekend day to coordinate family time events. Maintain client records and ensure compliance with Interdepartmental Regulations and generally accepted documentation principles. Ensure timely documentation of all required reports and notification of appropriate personnel, parents, and agencies with respect to incident reports, medical/dental emergencies, and other events requiring such reports. Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, placing agencies, and representatives of such agencies such as social workers, probation officers, and attorneys representing the client. Facilitate phone calls and web based (web cam) interactions with families and support system of clients to achieve the family engagement goal. Advocate for the clients and keep staff focused on clients' individual progress and goals. Attend required meetings. Participate in formal and informal professional training and pursue professional development opportunities. Remain proactive in support of the residential and education component team members. On-call one week every two months for crisis intervention support of clients. Attendance at all training mandated by YFT and respective governing entity to include, but not limited to keeping current CPR/First Aid certification, Handle With Care certification, as well as annual TB tests/screenings. All duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in DBHDS and DSS state standards (DBHDS: 12VAC 35-46-800; DSS: 22 VAC 40-151-720). Position Summary Youth For Tomorrow is looking for a post Master's level Virginia license eligible therapist with CSAC credentials for our residential campus. We are seeking a MSW or RIC therapist with a CSAC credential to provide clinical services to adolescents age 12 to 17. This is a full-time position with benefits that include weekly group supervision, licensure supervision for the LPC or LCSW license, and supervision for the CSAC credential. YFT holds one of the highest level of accreditation among behavioral health care clinical programs, being awarded national accreditation from The Joint Commission. YFT's behavioral health services also are accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA). Post Master's Level candidates who are eligible for licensure supervision in Virginia. We need candidates with demonstrated ability to work with children and adolescents in a counseling setting and function within a treatment team format Role and Responsibilities Facilitate the development of Individual Treatment Plans (ITP) for each assigned clients. Assure necessary input is provided to the Case Managers within 20 days of client arrival to aid in the facilitation of the ISP. Provide input associated with the counseling component of the program to the Case Managers by the 15 th day of each month that a quarterly review is due. Perform individual therapy for clients as requested by supervisor. Assess and diagnose individuals as necessary either as an LMHP or under and LMHPs supervision. Organize and implement family group therapy. This may involve weekend work. Facilitate progress group therapy and various topical groups through the Counseling program on a weekly basis. Demonstrate a proactive approach in your clinical support on an on-going basis to the residential and education component team members. Available for 24 hour on-call mental health crises. As a clinician, must be accessible via phone for consultation on mental health issues surrounding your clients or other clients if needed. If clinician is not available they are responsible to secure coverage from another clinician in their absence. As a clinician, must be available for community-based therapy at least once a month and to assist client in reunification and transition from treatment facility back into the community as effective for treatment goals. Available for weekend sessions at least twice a month on a rotating schedule. Available to support clients in phone calls and web based (web cam) interactions with their family members and outside support system to attain the family engagement goals. Participate as an active member of the Treatment Team. Responsible to communicate team review with necessary individuals in clients life. LMHPs are expected to provide board approved social work or counseling supervision to those going for licensure for no remuneration. If a board approved supervisor is needed one will be provided by YFT if the individual is on our staff and the respective board approves. Attend all training mandated by YFT. All duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in DBHDS and DSS state standards (DBHDS: 12VAC 35-46-800; DSS: 22 VAC 40-151-720). Qualifications Masters Degree and licensure (LMHP) or under the supervision of an LMPH, to provide counseling services. Demonstrated ability to work with adolescents and families in a counseling setting and function within an evaluation team format. Ability to assess treatment needs and deliver appropriate interventions. Ability to maintain all required documentation. Bi-lingual speaking skills (Spanish and English) helpful Professionally facilitate counseling functions as they apply to our milieu of care.
