Job Requirements • Associate degree or Certificate in a mechanical technology is preferred. • Must pass the skilled trade assessment test for this position. • Must have some knowledge of mechanical troubleshooting including power transmission andfluid power. • Must have some knowledge of fleet electrical troubleshooting. • Must have some level of knowledge and experience reading mechanical drawings and servicemanuals. • Must have some mechanical aptitude and the ability to work on close tolerance equipmentand/or parts. • Ability to use various measuring devices (torque wrench, micrometers, Vernier calipers, dialindicators etc.). • Ability to fabricate, weld, or machine parts may be required. • Excellent attendance required. • Must possess good organizational and communication skills. • Team oriented, self-motivated, safety and quality conscious; requiring minimal supervision. • Capable of lifting up to 75 pounds on an occasional basis. • May be required to operate basic shop equipment (hoist, forklift, scissor lift, etc.) • Must be able to work in confined areas, climb ladders, and work at heights of 50 feet. • Must be able to wear a respirator. • Must be willing to continuously improve technical skills and knowledge. • Must be able to understand and interpret the specifications and procedures related to this job. The position will be required to perform road call services as needed. Primary Responsibilities: Complete and perform preventative maintenance on minor repairs and standard component inspections/ repairs of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units) as well as identifying root causes of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required. Ensure equipment has required licensing and registration prior to being deemed as “roadworthy”. Complete thorough documentation for work orders of repairs and preventative maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system. Install, replace, and repair onboard computers. Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition which may require replacement of parts. Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery requiring the use of hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
