The Coding and Submissions Product team at OptumInsight is responsible for driving innovation and operational excellence In risk adjustment coding, and compliance. The team collaborates across Customers/Market, Technology, Chart Operations, and Decision Intelligence teams to deliver transformative solutions that optimize coding accuracy, efficiency, and financial performance through product strategy, roadmap and delivery.
As the Director of Coding and Submissions, you will lead the modernization and strategic direction of Risk adjustment Coding and Submissions solutions ensuring compliance, driving automation, and supporting product performance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement AI-driven solutions, standardize processes, and deliver measurable improvements in coding quality and operational outcomes. This role replaces Sharon Yeazle, who previously led the Retrospective Risk Adjustment and Coding Modernization initiatives
Minneapolis, MN; Washington DC; Raleigh, NC; and Nashville, TN are our preferred locations. If you are located within these areas, you will enjoy a hybrid work week with 4 days a week in office collaborating with peers and partners to the product organization.
For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Lead the Coding and Submissions Solutions, including roadmap development and execution for chart optimization, member validation, and AI/NLP solutions
* Oversee coding and submission operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to regulatory requirements
* Drive automation and process enhancements (e.g., CPH reduction, Ops automation, chart format standardization)
* Collaborate with Market/Customer, Tech, and Decision Intelligence teams to deliver innovative coding tools and solutions
* Manage cross-functional initiatives such as data masking, claims verification, and platform modernization
* Track progress of action items, resolve issues, and escalate decisions as needed
* Provide leadership and mentorship to coding team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
* Review team structure, personnel skills
* Represent product in executive readouts, finance discussions, and strategic planning sessions

Required Qualifications:
* 5+ years of experience in product management in healthcare
* 3+ years of experience as People manager
* Experience with automation and process optimization in healthcare
* Solid understanding of healthcare industry best practices and product management best practices
* Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive complex initiatives
* Demonstrated willingness to learn AI/NLP solutions
* Demonstrated excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience in risk adjustment and specifically in Coding
* Familiarity with Optum process around roadmap and capital management process or a similar large organization

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Position Overview
The Senior Analyst, Global Transfer Pricing will be engaged to support Enterprise-wide deliverables including global TP documentation, benchmarking analysis, TP audit support, APAs, and TP planning.
