Limited appointment, expected to end 1 year from hire date. The position will be involved in research under the supervision of Dr. Robert Warren, the principal investigator of the Surgical Oncology Research Lab. The incumbent will conduct research related to the growth of organoids as models for studying targeted therapeutics against gastrointestinal system cancers in humans performed by others in the Warren Lab.
He/she will be responsible for maintaining the database for our large tissue bank, which comprises both primary and metastatic liver tumors. This involves searching the electronic medical records of patients who have contributed tumor and non-tumorous tissue to our clinical/translational studies (APEX).
As molecular analyses of patient tumors, organoids, and patient-derived xenografts are carried out, the candidate will correlate those data with clinical outcomes using varying endpoints, applying appropriate statistical analyses.
The candidate will present their data in lab meetings, assist in writing manuscripts, and modify fields within the tissue/tumor database as new molecular analyses are developed. Familiarity with FileMaker Pro would be a plus. Experience using APEX will be important, as will prior knowledge of the components and methods of tissue storage in the Tumor Bank.
This position will be remote.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $34.48 - $74.04 (Hourly Rate).

Big Local News, situated in the journalism program in the Department of Communication at Stanford, allows journalists - whether freelancers, reporters from one company or collaborators across multiple news organizations - to share data and work together as they report out stories. Our work is designed to be journalist-driven and transformative, to help find solutions for local newsrooms' ability to produce accountability journalism and create impact. The Stanford Journalism program's mission is to serve the public's need for facts in a just, self-governed society. We develop tools to make it easier to discover important stories and lower the cost of accountability journalism through better use of data and algorithms. **Position Summary:** The Department of Communication is seeking a DataAnalyst 1. The DataAnalyst 1 will work under general supervision of the director of Big Local News within the department and conduct data collection, analysis and training in service of Big Local News' mission of supporting local journalism and partnering where applicable with researchers on data analyses for that purpose.
This is a 95% FTE, 2-year fixed-term exempt position. This position will be based on the Stanford campus and will be considered for an option of telecommuting (hybrid of working on-site and off-site), subject to operational need.

The Neuromuscular Division of Neurology is seeking a Research DataAnalyst (RDA), with clinical data management experience to utilize knowledge from research tools to conduct and analyze research data assuring efficiency and regulatory compliance; collect, compile and perform statistical analysis, data reports and management.
The division is eager to determine novel approaches towards quantifying movement through wearable and video technology and develop novel methods of analyzing MRI data to better characterize disease health for individuals with neuromuscular disease. As disease modifying treatments become available in neuromuscular diseases, we are researching novel approaches to better quantify movement and complement current clinical practice working alongside other professionals in radiology, cardiovascular health, and engineering.
This position focuses on clinical data management and primarily focuses on supporting the labs clinical data collection systems. One would expect to be using REDCap database design and form creation regularly while also aligning with administrative and research data governance politics. A successful candidate would serve as the primary data manager for multiple clinical research studies, ensuring data integrity, regulatory compliance, and efficient data flow from collection through analysis. Learning SQL or having experience with Google Cloud would be preferred.

The Neuromuscular Division of Neurology is seeking a Research DataAnalyst (RDA), with clinical data management experience to utilize knowledge from research tools to conduct and analyze research data assuring efficiency and regulatory compliance; collect, compile and perform statistical analysis, data reports and management.
The division is eager to determine novel approaches towards quantifying movement through wearable and video technology and develop novel methods of analyzing MRI data to better characterize disease health for individuals with neuromuscular disease. The position will be involved in research under the supervision of Dr. Robert Warren, the principal investigator of the Surgical Oncology Research Lab. The incumbent will conduct research related to the growth of organoids as models for studying targeted therapeutics against gastrointestinal system cancers in humans performed by others in the Warren Lab.
He/she will be responsible for maintaining the database for our large tissue bank, which comprises both primary and metastatic liver tumors. This involves searching the electronic medical records of patients who have contributed tumor and non-tumorous tissue to our clinical/translational studies (APEX).
As molecular analyses of patient tumors, organoids, and patient-derived xenografts are carried out, the candidate will correlate those data with clinical outcomes using varying endpoints, applying appropriate statistical analyses.
The candidate will present their data in lab meetings, assist in writing manuscripts, and modify fields within the tissue/tumor database as new molecular analyses are developed. Familiarity with FileMaker Pro would be a plus. Experience using APEX will be important, as will prior knowledge of the components and methods of tissue storage in the Tumor Bank.

The mission of the UCSF Department of Surgery is threefold: to develop the next generation of leaders in surgery; to provide outstanding quality clinical care that is cost effective, yet compassionate; and to make significant advances in scientific knowledge and clinical practice through basic and clinical research. Care of patients is what attracted our faculty and residents to surgery, and it continues to be our main focus.
The Department is comprised of eleven divisions that include Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery, General Surgery, Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Transplant Surgery, and Vascular & Endovascular Surgery. Our surgeons provide care at locations throughout greater San Francisco including: UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus (Moffitt-Long Hospital), UCSF Medical Center at Mt. Zion, UCSF Medical Center at Mission Bay, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in Oakland, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, San Francisco VA Medical Center, and Alameda County Medical Center in Oakland. Our residents also rotate through UCSF Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente, and California Pacific Medical Center.
