The starting hourly wage for this position is dependent upon relevant previous experience with a range of $21.47 - $23.18. This position is eligible for a $1,000 bonus - $500 to be paid after 90 days and $500 to be paid in the March 2026 paycheck.

SUMMARY: Under general supervision and often with little or no notice, performs a variety of custodial and building maintenance duties at any assigned Lewis-Palmer School District campus and/or program site. This includes providing custodial support in the absence of regular building staff, with the expectation that work quality meets or exceeds that of the assigned custodian. The position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and the community. Duties include cleaning classrooms and administrative areas, securing facilities, and supporting building and grounds maintenance in coordination with district maintenance teams. Must be capable of working independently and reliably while following assigned schedules and tasks.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following essential functions and responsibilities outline the general scope and nature of work performed in this position. Work independently and follow assigned schedules, adjusting tasks and priorities as needed based on building needs or supervisor direction.
Perform routine custodial tasks to maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and order of classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, gyms, and other school facilities.
Ensure all areas are cleaned and restocked according to district standards, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, emptying trash/recycling, and disinfecting high-touch surfaces.
Secure facilities by locking/unlocking buildings and setting security systems as required.
Respond to immediate cleaning needs, spills, or incidents to maintain safety and cleanliness throughout the school day.
Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and report needs or low stock to the appropriate supervisor.
Assist with the setup and breakdown of furniture or equipment for special events, meetings, or school activities.
Collaborate with building and district maintenance teams to support minor building maintenance and report any major repairs or safety concerns.
Maintain building entrances and exterior walkways as needed, including snow/ice removal, litter pickup, and general upkeep.
Operate custodial equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and carpet cleaners in a safe and effective manner.
Maintain professional and respectful communication with students, staff, and the public while performing duties in an occupied school environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Experience in the custodial field and the ability to demonstrate knowledge of custodial procedures, equipment and cleaning products and a High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Daily use of email.
