The Medical Laboratory Scientist II (MLS II) role, under general supervision, performs analyses on a variety of sample types. Maintains proper records and utilizes independent judgement to generate acceptable test results. Responsible for quality, efficiency and safety in the performance of laboratory functions. Serves as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team.
Key Responsibilities
Independently performs waived, moderate and high complexity testing using manual and automated processes. Complies and participates with all regulatory agency guidelines (CLIA 88, TJC, CAP, FDA, etc.) and addresses concerns as needed.
Independently identifies and resolves analytical problems, troubleshoots equipment issues and takes corrective action in evaluating testing procedures, patient results and specimen integrity; seeks guidance when necessary.
Independently reviews and records quality control and determines the acceptability of testing, patient results, and instrument function by applying the principles of QA/QC daily.
Responds to clinical and customer concerns, independently resolves customer issues in a confidential manner, employing integrity and discretion.
Assists with development and modification of procedures and assumes additional responsibilities when appropriate.
Independently troubleshoots and resolves problems and documents corrective actions.
Attends/Leads mandatory education, training, and in-service meetings specific to department.
Performs duties as assigned related to the job description.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biology or related sciences or an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field or completion of Military Laboratory Technician program with experience required.
Experience: 0-1 years (bachelor's degree) preferred; minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience (Associates in MLT or related science or Military Training) required.
Licensure/Certifications: ASCP or equivalent preferred.

Job Summary
Under direct supervision of the on-site provider, assists in the delivery of patient care. Performs delegated medical tasks, assists providers and nursing staff with patient care and may perform clerical duties. 2. Follows established practice workflows to facilitate efficiency and timely service to patients.
3. Prepares patient for examination by the health care provider. Performs and documents vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature) and risk screening on all patients per hospital and/ or practice policy. Reports out of range values in vital signs and risk screening to the provider. Assists provider with procedures
4. Performs routine clinical testing, including but not limited to obtaining blood and urine specimen, vision testing, hearing screening, incentive spirometry, EKG, point of care testing, and vital signs. Follows established guidelines or protocols where applicable to obtain necessary testing based on the chief complaint prior to the exam.
5. Provides pre-printed patient education /material as directed by the provider.
6. Performs high-level disinfection of equipment instrument and environment per hospital and/ or practice procedure.
7. Stocks/restocks supply and exam rooms maintaining necessary supplies in clinical area.
8. Ensures equipment used in clinical area has a current clinical engineering sticker and is ready for use.
9. Provides care appropriate to the patient populations(s) served. Assess data reflective of the patient's requirements relative to population-specific and age specific needs. Provides the care needed as described in the unit/area/department policies and procedures. Is aware of social drivers of health as they impact overall health of the patient and the community.
10. Participate in medicalassistant skill development and competency evaluation.
11. Participates in practice-based process improvement efforts.
12. Active participant in clinic huddles/staff meetings.
13. Meets all competencies in medicalassistant roles specific to the practice site. Works independently and serves as a resource for others. May precept new medicalassistant and students within practice development
14. Based on established competencies, administers select medications and injections under direct supervision of provider as per hospital and/ or practice policy. Assists in the vaccination programs, including giving injections and tracking data in an approved database.
Administrative Duties
1. May assist with front desk operations with oversight to include but not limited to: patient check in and check out, scanning and filing, patient phone calls, and fee disclosures.
2. Enhances the patient and family experience by informing of possible delays, as well as being aware of potential barriers to a positive patient experience and remediating or escalating using the chain of command
3. Timely review of business communication, such as In Basket, email, and telecommunications
4. Plays active role in compliance with regulatory and practice and/ or hospital policy requirements. Maintains a safe environment of care and reports safety concerns.

Job Description
General Summary
Under moderate supervision performs a variety of front and back office duties in the clinic. Provides initial preparation of patients prior to the physician's encounter; assists physician in patient care activities; performs procedures under the supervision of physician; provides health education under the supervision of physician.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

Assists physician during physical exams and procedures.
Prepares in-office surgical suite for all procedures utilizing sterile technique.
Ensures that charts for outside physicians are prepared for that day with appropriate forms and documentation.
Assists staff with scheduling appointments, requesting medical information, test results, photocopying, filing and other tasks as assigned.
Assists with obtaining authorizations or referrals needed.
Maintains patient charts and ensures information is filed/scanned accurately.
Functions as a collaborative team member; demonstrated commitment to group goals and teamwork.
Prepare quotes to provide to patients during cosmetic consultation visits.
Takes vitals on all patients to include height, weight, blood pressure and temperature.
Completes patient history, medication documentation, and other orders as instructed by the provider.
Maintains clinical equipment and notifies management of issues or concerns.
Operates equipment in a safe and competent manner.
Enters other pertinent patient data into EMR as requested by the provider.
Works within scope and with providers to answer patient phone questions and complete refill encounters with appropriate documentation in the chart or EMR.
Answers phones, screens calls, and communicates messages accurately and in a timely manner.
Restocks and prepares exam rooms for the next day according to par levels. Notifies staff member responsible for ordering supplies when supplies needed.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited MedicalAssistant program.
Special circumstances to consider an exception may include: (1 year of supervised work experience in a medicalassisting field within the last 3 years). These should be vetted by Human Resources Director and Department Director.
Current National certification through AAMA, NHA, AAH or AMT.
Certification Includes:
Certified MedicalAssistant
Certified Clinical MedicalAssistant
Registered MedicalAssistant
Three (3) years of medicalassisting and medical practice experience.
Experience in a surgical practice setting preferred.
Current BLS certification.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Previous experience using a business office suite, such as Microsoft Office, is preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Travel to other SRH locations may be required.

Based on established competencies, administers select medications and injections under direct supervision of provider as per hospital and/ or practice policy. Assists in the vaccination programs, including giving injections and tracking data in an approved database.
Administrative Duties
May assist with front desk operations with oversight to include but not limited to: patient check in and check out, scanning and filing, patient phone calls, and fee disclosures.
Enhances the patient and family experience by informing of possible delays, as well as being aware of potential barriers to a positive patient experience and remediating or escalating using the chain of command
Timely review of business communication, such as In Basket, email, and telecommunications
Plays active role in compliance with regulatory and practice and/ or hospital policy requirements. Maintains a safe environment of care and reports safety concerns.
Additional Duties
Participates in personnel skill and competency development and training as requested by practice manager.
Responsible for self-learning; attends educational offerings and in-services independently.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience - Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of an accredited MedicalAssistant program.
Special circumstances to consider an exception may include: (1 year of supervised work experience in a medicalassisting field within the last 3 years; or 2 years of supervised work experience in a medicalassisting field within the last 5 years). These should be vetted by Human Resources Director and Department Director.
Current BLS certification.

General Summary
Under direct supervision of the on-site physician, assists in the delivery of patient care. Performs delegated medical tasks, assists physician and nursing staff with patient care and may perform clerical duties. Where electronic system is in use, this position will utilize the EMR for documentation purposes. Fulfillment of job duties requires the employee to have access to medication storage areas and to transport medications to/ from medication storage and delivery areas. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

Ensures that charts for outside physicians are prepared for that day with appropriate forms and documentation.

Works within scope and with providers to answer patient phone questions and complete refill encounters with appropriate documentation in the chart or EMR.
Answers phones, screens calls, and communicates messages accurately and in a timely manner.
Restocks and prepares exam rooms for the next day according to par levels. Notifies staff member responsible for ordering supplies when appropriate.
Exhibits compassion and empathy for all patients and families at all times.
Functions effectively in all MA roles specific to clinic. Works independently and servers as a resource for others. May precept new MA and MA students within the clinic.

Responsible for initiating or verifying that the correct action is taken to resolve all specimen collection and specimen processing problems.
