This position encompasses the Anne Arundel County region of Maryland and includes equal coverage of our centers located in Glen Burnie and Pasadena, MD. UM Urgent Care providers are the leaders of our urgent care facilities, providing excellent care to our patients, creating signature patient experiences and working as a close-knit team with medical assistants and x-ray technologists. We care for patients from one year of age and older, providing a diverse array of services from treating upper respiratory infections, sprains and strains, and applying sutures, to employee health physicals, work related injuries and preoperative exams. PRN providers are required to give at least 2-3 days of availability each month, with two of those days being weekends. All PRN providers must also give one day of availability each month to be the 'emergency on call' provider for all of our facilities. Required Question when submitting application 1. Candidates must have successfully completed a bachelor of arts or sciences degree required for admission to their respective nurse practitioner or physician assistant professional school. Additionally, having some experience as a provider, nurse or tech in the fields of urgent care, intensive care, emergency medicine or primary care is very helpful. It is required that candidates have a proactive, growth focused mindset, are passionate about providing high quality care to their patients. Candidates must be passionate about the field of urgent care, intellectually curious and be open to constructive feedback. Additional Information We provide side by side clinical training shifts at the onset of employment to ensure new providers have the hands-on procedure skill, basic clinical knowledge and electronic health records fluency necessary to be successful. We also provide support for our providers with constant APP and physician leadership available telephonically for all operating hours. Working under general supervision with approved protocols or under the order of a licensed independent provider (LIP), the Respiratory Care Practitioner II (Registered) executes assignments demonstrating a clinical competence in Respiratory Care in the selection of accurate technical factors on an individual patient basis necessary to evaluate and provide age appropriate treatment across all patient types in all locations to include cardiopulmonary dysfunction secondary to developmental defects, the aging process, physical injury or disease requiring the administration of inhaled medications, utilization of specialized ventilation equipment and performing a variety of respiratory care techniques. Adheres to all department and facility policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Key Responsibility 1: Manages an assigned case load and responds to emergent patient needs. Functions as part of a larger team to support all patients under the department's care. Key Responsibility 2: Performs a variety of respiratory care treatments to specific patient populations, i.e., adult, pediatric, or neonatal. Verifies all interventions are supported by protocol or LIP order. Observes and monitors physical signs and symptoms, general behavior, general physical response to respiratory care procedures. Collaborates with LIP during patient rounds the therapeutic treatment plans to determine whether initiation, modification, or discontinuation of the treatment regimen is warranted. Adheres to Joint Commission, State, Federal, organizational and departmental regulatory compliance standards. Key Responsibility 3: Administers therapeutic and diagnostic gases (exclusive of anesthetic agents), aerosolized medication treatments and chest physiotherapy. Administers invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation and adjusts ventilation equipment to optimize patient support. Ensures correct ventilator alarms and settings. Collaborates with the healthcare team when adjusting ventilation parameters and settings, as necessary in accordance with patient's response. Evaluates the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions by reviewing chest x-rays, utilizing noninvasive monitor values and laboratory results. Monitors patient appearance and vital signs and consults with the LIP or a senior practitioner as necessary. Key Responsibility 4: Documents accurate patient care activity in various electronic health records systems. Key Responsibility 5: Contributes to departmental and organizational performance improvement initiatives and efforts to improve workflows, patient experience and quality.
