The Interdisciplinary Program in Organizational Studies in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan seeks applicants for a full time Lecturer III position to begin August 25, 2026. Organizational Studies is a small but growing selective undergraduate major in the arts and sciences. This is a non-tenure track position with a university year appointment. The initial appointment period will be four (4) years, and the appointment may be renewed (based on programmatic need, funding, and performance). The appointment is subject to final approval by the college.
Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities for this Lecturer III position are expected to include four (4) undergraduate courses per year, including both lectures and seminars, as well as departmental service, including undergraduate advising and mentoring equivalent to a third class per semester, and service on appropriate committees. Candidates may also contribute to our core class rotation (micro-organizational behavior, macro-organizational theory, and research methods), depending on program needs and candidate background. A typical full-time (100% effort) load for a Lecturer III in the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is three courses per semester, or the equivalent in administrative and/or service duties.
Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. in a relevant social/behavioral science or professional discipline prior to the start date of the position and a range of instructional expertise. Candidates must be able to teach lower- and upper-level classes relevant to the study of organizations that are grounded in social/behavioral science and appeal to students looking to develop practical, transferable skills. Candidates must also be capable of teaching at least one and preferably two of our core classes (micro-organizational behavior, macro-organizational theory, and research methods). We especially welcome applicants prepared to teach Leadership and/or Negotiations. Excellence in teaching (including in larger classes), alignment with student demand, and potential in instructional service (including undergraduate advising and mentorship) will be the principal criteria used to select the successful candidate.

General Information about the School of Kinesiology and the University of Michigan
The School of Kinesiology is one of 19 independent academic units and one of seven health science schools and colleges within the University of Michigan. In Fall 2023, the National Academy of Kinesiology ranked the School of Kinesiology at the University of Michigan as the #1 Kinesiology doctoral program in the US. The Department of Dance seeks a distinguished dance artist-educator who brings with them strong administrative experience, a collaborative spirit, a deep commitment to service, a record of successful teaching and a vision for advancing an inclusive, engaged, and evolving curriculum.
Duties: The appointee will be leading the Department of Dance as a chair for an initial term of five (5) years. The appointee will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence; create an innovative curriculum for a broad range of students of varied identities and backgrounds who seek to explore a range of educational opportunities and career pathways; recruit and retain students of exceptional promise and continue to develop and maintain a visible national and international profile as a performer, artist and a pedagogue. The multifaceted responsibilities, as chair, include overseeing all aspects of administration within the Department, standing as a representative for faculty, staff and students alike, and defining and guiding the vision of the Department within the School, the University and the national dance industry. The individual will also guide productions, engage in teaching dance courses, and represent the Department in donor-related activities. The appointed professor will need to demonstrate their commitment to teaching, collaborating on curriculum, scheduling classes, facilitating faculty assignments, and guiding a diverse group of students in realizing their professional potential in a just, equitable and consent-informed environment. The role demands active participation in budgeting and faculty governance. The appointee will attend faculty meetings, and serve on faculty and university committees, as appropriate. The appointee will have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills critical for interacting with our diverse students, faculty, and staff. This will involve presenting complex ideas and concepts with clarity, sensitivity, and compassion.
Required: A PhD, MFA, or commensurate professional experience; prior teaching experience, especially at the university level, and demonstrated ability to empower, advocate for, and value a broad range of students of diverse identities and experiences, as shown through pedagogy, mentoring, and related activities; strong academic and/or professional background; administrative experience with significant achievements in these areas; potential for ongoing creative or scholarly activities that will enhance the diversity, artistry, and academic value of our department; demonstrated experience as a collaborative leader and advocate, who will work in partnership with a dynamic and accomplished faculty to foster a learning environment rooted in artistic excellence, research, and innovation.
Preferred: Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in Dance History, Upper Level and Graduate Level Writing in Dance, Dance Criticism, Graduate Level Praxis based course integrating research and movement, and Foundational Modern techniques.

The Program in Technical Communication at Michigan Engineering seeks skilled and enthusiastic applicants for one open Lecturer I position to begin in January 2026.
Michigan Engineering places special emphasis on the ability of graduates to express themselves and their ideas in a professional and highly successful manner. As such, the TC Program plays a significant role in the delivery of a writing and communication curriculum across the college, with a focus on first-year, laboratory, and senior design courses. TC faculty integrate written, oral, and visual communication into engineering courses; we also help students learn teamwork and address questions of ethics and social impact. We regularly team-teach courses with both technical communication and engineering (technical) faculty. Our department employs 36 faculty and has a vibrant, supportive, people-centered culture.
As a Lecturer I, you would teach sections of both standalone and team-taught technical communication courses, with an initial focus on first-year writing in our team-taught Engineering 100 courses; on intermediate technical communication in TCHNCLCM-300 (our standalone course for Computer Science and Computer/Electrical Engineering majors); and on supporting upper-level courses (as needed). The TC Program offers a range of courses, which can vary in credit hours (1-4 credits) and overall teaching workload (20-50% effort). A full-time, 100% effort Lecturer I appointment aligns with the workload of a traditional 3:3 workload (or equivalent), in accordance with collective bargaining agreement between The University of Michigan and the Lecturers' Employee Organization. Lecturer I faculty positions are 100% teaching positions (no service requirement) and are renewed annually.
The initial appointment would be for the Winter 2026 semester. This is a renewable, promotion-track position: successful candidates are eligible for annual raises and promotion to Lecturer II (and eventually Teaching Professor), per the terms of the collective bargaining agreement. All CoE faculty are reviewed annually.

Depending on enrollment needs, the Program may have multiple Lecturer I positions open.

Required Qualifications*
Advanced degree in Technical Communication or related field (e.g. Communication, English, Rhetoric/Composition, Writing Studies, Science Communication, Engineering, Engineering Education, Law, or similar), and/or significant relevant training and experience in technical communication or related field; PhD preferred
Training and experience in the teaching of writing and communication
Successful teaching experience
Experience with various technical communication genres (e.g. memos, proposals, reports, posters, instructions, visuals, oral presentations, etc.), such as in academia, industry, or government
Ability to work effectively with students individually and in course project teams
Ability to work independently and self-manage complex planning and long-term service and teaching projects
Ability to self-identify areas for professional growth and self-regulate professional development opportunities
Ability to teach and work in a multi-disciplinary, team-based environment
Ability to incorporate technology and Learning Management systems into teaching (e.g. GenAI, Canvas, etc.)
Experience working with scientific/engineering students and/or content a plus. We are especially interested in candidates whose background includes training in both engineering and communication.
