Responsibilities* What skills would you master? * Unit Based Responsibilities: You'll participate in direct patient care which includes working with members of the healthcare team to assure appropriateness of therapy. Other activities include reviewing medication profiles, patient counseling, and physician/nurse education. * Teaching: You will have opportunities to interact with a variety of pharmacy learners on rotations or internships with the service. * Order Verification/ Profile Review: You will review, clarify and process allergen immunotherapy orders in a timely manner while assuring appropriateness of therapy. * Quality Improvement: You will provide input and suggestions for process improvements to improve the care that is provided to our patients. * Supervision of Work Area: You will provide functional supervision of technical staff working in their area including completion of job assignments and assuring adherence to institutional policies and procedures. This includes oversight of sterile compounding of allergen extracts, inventory management of allergen extracts, and inventory management of other clinic medications. * Patient Populations: You will service patients seeking specialty care for allergy and immunology disorders. Allergy and immunology care at Michigan Medicine consists of both pediatric and adult patients. Required Qualifications* What are the Qualifications? * Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy or Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy with commensurate experience. * Current license to practice pharmacy in the State of Michigan (including a Controlled Substance license), verifiable in LARA; or eligibility to become licensed within 90 days of employment start date. * Ability to perform a variety of manual dexterity movements, including keyboarding and IV preparation, actively participating in codes. * Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English. * Completion of a PGY1 residency and/or BCPS certification is desired * Recent inpatient clinical hospital practice experience or infusion pharmacy experience including IV admixture, participation in direct patient care and education, with a range of medications and patient populations similar to those at UMHHC (may include clerkships, APPE rotations or residency rotations) is desired Work Schedule This is a part-time (0.5 FTE/20 hours per week) position. Hours are aligned with clinic operation hours, currently Mondays through Fridays during business hours of 0800-1600, with exact schedule to be determined upon hire. Occasional need to travel to other allergy clinic locations may be required. Michigan Medicine has allergy clinics located at Brighton Center for Specialty Care, Northville Health Center, University Student Health Services, and West Ann Arbor Health Center. This position will be based at the Allergy Extract Lab, located at Domino?s Farms Allergy Clinic. Weekends, afternoons, and holidays are not currently required; although unlikely, this is subject to change based on the needs of the service. Upon completion of on-boarding and demonstration of order verification competency and efficiency, centralized order verification pharmacists will work remotely (either from a decentralized office or from home). Centralized order verification pharmacists must provide services from within NYS and may be called to report to work on site (SMH) in the event of an emergency incident that results in an inability to process orders electronically (e.g., extended electronic medical record [EMR] downtime) or a significant reduction in order volume (e.g., event causing prolonged significant decrease in patient volumes). Although these events are rare, it will require living within an approximately two-hour commute to SMH. Centralized order verification pharmacists will have a rotating schedule including day shifts, evening shifts, weekends, and holidays.
