The focal study explores ungulate activity through a long-term camera trap network on a large ranch. We're using counts of ungulates to estimate the effectiveness of adaptive grazing management, and seasonal phenology of plants. The primary duty will be evaluation and scoring of these large image sets. Other tasks that may arise would support parallel studies in the lab and greenhouse. Job responsibilities: Score images for ungulate presence and activities. Process images of ungulates through Microsoft Access forms and export to Excel. Score images for plant morphometrics. Use ImageJ to measure plants. Organize and maintain detailed tracking of images and ensure data is accurately recorded. Other duties may support greenhouse studies (cleaning supplies, pots, maintaining irrigation systems) and lab logistics (organizing and cleaning field equipment). Attend weekly meetings, write weekly reports, and email communication. Qualifications: Current UT student in undergraduate program related to biological or environmental sciences. Work Schedule: Will be determined based on applicant availability. Min 8 hours/week, max 15 hours/week, min 3-hour blocks of time. The URA will build, test, and install equipment for the Digital Twin project. The ideal candidate is an undergraduate student at UT who has experience working in industrial facilities installing electronics and has previously worked with power tools. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, a good communicator, and drives their work to completion. Purpose The URA will be responsible for installing data acquisition equipment and peripheral hardware and supporting documentation efforts. The URA will work closely with faculty, senior researchers, and other students from the University of Texas (UT), providing an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge research and develop valuable skills for both academic and professional advancement. Purpose UT Austin undergraduate students will have the opportunity to join the Wildflower Center's conservation team and support plant collections and seed banking. Potential tasks include seed cleaning, plant record updates, data entry, germination trials, and seed / plant specimen collection field work. Work will be highly collaborative and will include conducting fieldwork, data collection, plant identification, data organization, outreach, and supporting other conservation projects as needed. Students must be comfortable spending time outside and working as part of a team. Responsibilities Research activities (field-based data collection, lab work, data entry etc.) related to plant collections and seed banking. Students will be paired with mentors depending on their project. Assist with research activities outside core focus area. This work will be highly collaborative and interdisciplinary, and may be involve assisting graduate students or other researchers from the University of Texas in the field or lab as needed. Regular meetings with Wildflower Center research mentors. Occasional participation in outreach or community engagement events. Students will assist with tours, lessons, or educational tabling as needed. Presentation of ongoing or completed projects during lab meeting and/or Science Symposium at end of the semester. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Current enrollment at UT Austin as an undergraduate. Must either be enrolled in 3 credit hours during the spring of 2026, or must have completed at least 6 credit hours during the fall 2025 semester. Demonstrated interest in ecology, botany, environmental science, sustainability, or related field. Willingness to work individually and as part of a team. Willingness to work outside in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme heat and humidity. Current Texas class C driver's license. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Research experience (field or lab). Driving Required This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence.
