JOB SUMMARY: This position works under limited supervision to provide advanced technical skills in the performance of non-invasive tests used in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular disease. Responsibilities include performing a full range of non-invasive vascular tests and related duties in patient care and academic/research environment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Operates ultrasound equipment for data acquisition, documentation of images and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images. * Prepares a summary of technical findings for interpretation by vascular surgeon. * Provides preliminary technical interpretations to ordering physician(s). * Applies the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice. * Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity. * Provides assistance to rotating students, interns, and residents. * Performs data collection for quality assurance and research programs. * Practices safety measures in Environment of Care. * Assists the Technical Manager/Director with the maintenance of laboratory accreditation via ICAVL and JCAHO through standardized protocols. * Participates in research projects. * Maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times * Is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of vascular disease and new procedures, as they evolve. * Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. WORK SCHEDULE: Up to 19.99 hours per week with no benefits. Hours will be during the day shift. Days and hours will vary based on coverage needs. Must be willing to work at each UTMB campus as needed. Clinical Duties Perform obstetric ultrasounds (first trimester, second/third trimester growth scans, anatomy scans, biophysical profiles, Doppler studies, and amniotic fluid assessments). Perform gynecologic ultrasounds (transabdominal and transvaginal) to evaluate pelvic structures, ovaries, uterus, and endometrium. Capture high-quality diagnostic images and cine loops per physician order and protocol. Identify, measure, and document fetal structures, growth parameters, and anatomical findings. Assist in the evaluation of multiple gestations, high-risk pregnancies, and abnormal findings. Provide preliminary impressions to physicians while avoiding independent diagnosis.
