* Serves as a professional role model, coach, and resource for employees. Participates actively in Nursing and/or hospital committees and work groups and assists in the development and implementation of the units shared governance model.
* Assumes responsibility for own professional growth.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of accredited nursing program, Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.
Experience: At least two years' experience as a registered nurse
Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

Acute Care Pediatrics 12 is a 24-bed pediatric unit. The staff care for patients from a variety of medical specialties including, but not limited to nephrology, neurology, cardiology, pulmonology, gastrologic, and endocrinology. The unit also sees surgical specialties such as trauma, plastics, and general care surgery patients. The unit consists of a combination of general care and step-down patients. Special to ACP 12 are the hematology/oncology, epilepsy monitoring and bone marrow transplant populations. Additionally, some patients are monitored by telemetry in our general care and step-down environments.
The Nurse Clinician demonstrates a high level of expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the complex patients and their responses to actual or potential health problems. This role assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort. The Nurse Clinician provides direction, education, leadership and accountability for program development, implementation and evaluation in area of responsibility. This role includes professional development and empowerment of staff as well as management of resources to promote desired outcomes with attention to quality, efficiency and cost.
