The University of Virginia's Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR) seeks a detail-oriented, proactive, and collaborative Regulatory BusinessAnalyst to help ensure compliance with institutional policies, sponsor requirements, and state and federal regulations. This position plays a critical role in supporting research integrity and security, specifically related to research conflicts of interest (COI) and conflicts of commitment (COC), while driving process improvements across the University's research enterprise.
The initial appointment will be for a two-year term but will be renewable based on business needs, satisfactory performance and ongoing availability of funds. This position may be filled at the Compliance Professional 1 or Compliance Professional 2 level depending on the successful candidate's qualifications.
About the Role:
This position supports the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) and the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) by managing disclosure, review, and oversight of external interests that may create a COI or COC in research. The role is ideal for individuals passionate about research ethics, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence in a dynamic academic and medical research environment.
As a Regulatory BusinessAnalyst, you will:
* Partner with OVPR leadership, researchers, and study teams to promote understanding of COI/COC requirements.
* Guide investigators through disclosure, review, and management processes.
* Monitor compliance and identify opportunities for operational efficiency.
* Support strategic decision-making through data analysis and process improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct relatedness reviews of disclosed interests vs. sponsored research.
* Facilitate system access, training, and education on COI/COC requirements.
* Coordinate ancillary reviews with subject matter experts and HRPP for human subjects research.
* Assist with mandatory reporting to sponsors and regulatory agencies.
* Support the University's online disclosure system: map workflows, identify process improvements, and reduce operational risk.
* Gather requirements, track progress, test enhancements, and assist with implementation.
* Provide administrative support to the Research COI Committee, including protocol review, agenda preparation, drafting management plans, and meeting documentation.
* Stay current on evolving COI/COC regulations and assist with planning and implementing programmatic changes.
Qualifications:
Required Skills & Experience:

Education & Experience:
* Compliance Professional 1: High school diploma and at least 2 years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
* Compliance Professional 2: Bachelor's degree (or 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree) and at least 2 years of relevant experience.
Anticipated Salary Range (commensurate with experience and qualifications):
* Compliance Professional 1: $50k - $60k annually
* Compliance Professional 2: $60k - $75k annually
This is a full-time, exempt-level position with UVA benefits.

Physical Demands: This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Data Analyst 1 will manage and analyze large amounts of data collected through the RAPID Survey Project.
RAPID began as a program of two national surveys of households with children under age 6 and the child care workforce. Led by Philip Fisher, Stanford Center on Early Childhood Director, the RAPID National Survey administers monthly surveys on a rapid-cycle schedule, and has collected data from more than 25,000 households and 13,000 childcare providers in all 50 states. The survey and data are used to inform policy, advocacy, academic, and practitioner audiences on the experiences, challenges, and strengths of caregivers of young children and providers beyond those immediately related to the pandemic, to support data-driven policies and programs that equitably and effectively serve families, providers, and young children. RAPID is now implemented in community, state, and national contexts, working in partnership with local and state organizations. The RAPID datasets are extensive and quickly growing, and include both quantitative and qualitative data.
In close coordination with project managers, the Data Analyst 1 will perform rapid-cycle statistical analyses, create insightful data visualizations, and prepare statistical reports using data collected through the RAPID surveys. The Data Analyst 1 will perform analysis primarily on data from the RAPID States projects and provide analytic support to the monthly national household survey, monthly national child care provider survey, and RAPID's place-based surveys and other survey partnerships. The Data Analyst 1 will also be involved in preparing data dissemination products, such as fact sheets and data briefs, for publication.
CORE DUTIES:
Your primary responsibilities will include:
* Identify and select usable data from subtle and complex data patterns. Assess and produce relevant, standard, or custom information (reports, charts, graphs, and tables) from structured data sources by querying data repositories and generating the associated information.
* Utilize fundamental processes and methods to validate data to ensure high quality product. Distribute reports to applicable agencies, researchers, management, and other internal end-users and provide interpretation of data when needed.
* Collect, manage, and clean datasets using an extraction and reporting programming language to ensure data integrity.
* Research and reconcile data discrepancies occurring among various information systems and reports.
* Collaborate with data managers to define and implement data standards and common data elements for data collection.
* Assist with identifying new sources of data and methods to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting.
To be successful in this position, you will bring:
* Bachelor's degree and one year of experience or a combination of education and relevant experience. Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics, or engineering.
* Basic knowledge and demonstrated experience using and applying analytical software, database management system software, database reporting software, database user interface and query software, and data mining software.
* Ability to collect data using a variety of methods, such as data mining and hardcopy or electronic documentation study, to improve or expand databases.

The expected pay range for this position is $53,223 to $78,503 per annum. General Information:
The office of accounting technology within the office of accounting operations and disbursements is seeking a skilled and analytical Finance Applications Analyst to join our team. This role is responsible for documenting business processes and procedures, particularly as JMU transitions to a new ERP system.
The analyst will work closely with the implementation team to receive training on the new system and will be responsible for developing training materials and conducting end-user training to ensure a smooth transition. Additionally, this role will provide functional support, system testing, process improvements, and vendor records maintenance to help optimize the Finance/Budget Office's use of the ERP system and related applications.
This is an on-site position, requiring in-person collaboration with Finance, Budget, and IT teams to ensure effective system support and business process improvements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Business Process Documentation - Work closely with finance and IT teams to document current and future state processes to support the transition to the new ERP system.
* ERP Implementation Support - Collaborate with the ERP implementation team to ensure finance system requirements are met, participate in testing, and validate system functionality.
* Training & User Support - Receive training on the new ERP system, develop training materials, and lead end-user training sessions to ensure smooth adoption.
* Functional System Support - Provide ongoing support for finance applications, troubleshoot issues, and assist with upgrades and enhancements.
* Process Improvement & Automation - Identify opportunities to streamline finance-related business processes and leverage technology solutions.
* Data Validation & Reporting - Assist in developing queries and reports to support decision-making and ensure data integrity within the ERP system.
Project Management- Assist in system implementation and upgrade projects, including testing, data migration, and user training.
* Serve as the functional analyst for all applications which are supported by the Finance/Budget Office, and interface/interact with other University and State applications.
* Vendor Records Maintenance - Assist/serve as a backup for vendor record management, ensuring accurate additions, corrections, updates, and inactivation.

Required:
* Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel functionalities.
* Experience with business process documentation and workflow analysis.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to finance system functionality.
* Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
* Strong ability to learn and train others on new financial systems or ERP applications.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to train users, document processes, and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
* Experience working with end users' requests and translating them into technical requirements.
* Excellent customer service and people skills to provide a welcoming environment for internal employee support.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Considerations:
* Experience supporting ERP system implementations or finance software transitions.
* Hands-on experience with PeopleSoft Finance or Oracle Cloud Applications.
* Prior experience developing end-user training materials or conducting system training.
* Knowledge of financial processes, and reporting tools.
* Knowledge of accounting concepts (including budget development), principals, software applications.
* Knowledge of Finance, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
* Project management knowledge.
* Experience of desktop environments, including but not limited to Windows/Mac OS, FTP software, Microsoft Office suite.
* Knowledge of security principles related to complex computing environments and relational databases.
Additional Posting Information:
This is an on-campus, on-site position (not remote) with normal business hours of 8 AM - 5 PM.

**The ideal candidate:**
+ Is an Epic Applications Analyst with a certification in Professional Billing with five years related experience.

+ New or modified Processes are thoroughly tested to prevent production implementation problems.
