Facilities Management's North Grounds Zone at the University of Virginia is seeking an experienced Plumber who provides expertise in the plumbing field. The incumbent provides comprehensive maintenance and repair of all plumbing systems in support of zone maintenance in the North Grounds Zone. The incumbent maintains all systems in operational condition and provides a safe and comfortable environment for all plumbing systems in support of zone maintenance. The Plumber should be able to read blueprints and have basic computer skills. Duties Include: * Replace and install plumbing and mechanical components. * Perform preventative maintenance on all plumbing systems and update or repair the systems when necessary. * Perform all work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, BOCA, federal, state, and local regulations, and applicable building codes. * Respond to requests from the University community and address plumbing problems quickly and professionally. * Inform customers of job status, reasons for and duration of expected delays, as well as refer customers to the supervisor when appropriate. * Ensure that all safety and personal protective equipment are used. * Perform miscellaneous duties such as snow and ice removal and special events setups, as assigned by the supervisor. * In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. In this full-time role, you'll be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing systems supporting residential water distribution and wastewater disposal. You'll report directly to our Service Manager and serve as a trusted representative of our company in the community. What You'll Do Diagnose and troubleshoot plumbing issues in residential homes Perform thorough plumbing inspections and maintenance services Complete repairs, replacements, and new installations as needed Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners to explain findings and recommend solutions Help customers make informed decisions to maintain and protect their plumbing systems What We're Looking For At least 2 years of hands-on plumbing experience, ideally in residential service work Valid driver's license Comfortable using tablets, smartphones, and job management software A customer-first attitude and a desire to keep learning and growing in the trade Working Conditions & Physical Demands Prioritize safety at all times and follow OSHA guidelines and company safety policies Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, use hands, hear, and speak clearly Must be able to climb ladders, navigate tight crawl spaces, and work in varying temperatures Ability to routinely lift and move items weighing 50+ lbs Work will include indoor and outdoor environments throughout all seasons Benefits and Perks Competitive Pay: Significant base salary and bonus opportunity Benefits: We offer top-notch benefits!
