Jewish Hospital Address: 200 Abraham Flexner Way Louisville, KY 40202 Shift: Second Shift (United States of America) The primary purpose of the Sterile Processing/Scope technician is to assist in direct patient care by ensuring the OR staff has correct, fully functional, sterile instrumentation delivered in a timely manner consistent with the highest standards of customer service and primary responsibility for cleaning endoscopy scopes and equipment. Technicians are asked to perform the four basic departmental functions (decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch) with efficiency, expertise, and accuracy. Further, the manner in which an SPD/Scope Tech will perform these duties will be characterized by resourcefulness, determination, courtesy, and professionalism. Techs are expected to build and maintain a comprehensive body of knowledge with respect to the standards and procedures associated with the preparation, sterilization, storage, and delivery of surgical instrumentation and endoscopes per AAMI, AORN, SGNA, ASGE, and CDC guidelines.

Essential Functions:
* Effectively communicates with co-workers and all other hospital personnel. Able to write routine reports and correspondence; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
* Answers telephone promptly and assist caller with obtaining items needed
* Delivers scheduled case carts to the Surgery Department
* Inventory and delivers back-up case carts to the Surgery Department and required areas
* Responsible for returned instrumentation and supplies (if applicable) that is unused, and the integrity of packaging has not been compromised
* Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; Looks for ways to improve and promote quality
* Performs cleaning and decontamination duties. Works quickly yet safely and thoroughly addresses all instrumentation taking into account any unique cleaning demands. Able to decontaminate all reusable instruments, sets, and utensils according to acceptable Sterile processing standards
* Disinfects and cleans endoscopy scopes and equipment according to SGNA/ASGE standards and hospital policy
* Inspects, assembles, and packages all decontaminated reusable instruments and sets looking for cleanliness and functionality of all instrumentation
* Performs wrapping and packaging duties. Prioritizes work; focuses on consistent throughput; accountable for knowledge and expertise with respect to all instruments
* Operates all processing equipment used within the department
* Performs sterilization and all monitoring activities associated with it. Knowledgeable with respect to biological monitoring; organized and efficient
* Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect regardless of their status or position
* Performs dispatch duties. Polite and knowledgeable with all OR staff; organized and efficient; ensures the department is meeting all the OR's needs

Clinical Scope & Procedures
Our unit performs a mix of routine diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures, including:
Gastrointestinal:Diagnostic EGDs and Colonoscopies, Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection (ESD), and Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR).
Pulmonary:Diagnostic Bronchoscopies, Navigational Bronchoscopy, and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS).
Key Responsibilities
Circulating & Patient Care:Manage the nursing process during the intra-procedure process. Document patient care accurately and maintain safety standards in the procedure room.
Moderate Sedation:Administer and monitor moderate sedation under the direction of the physician, maintaining strict airway management and hemodynamic monitoring standards.
Procedural Assistance (Scrub/Tech Duties):Function as the primary assistant to the physician at the bedside. This includes handling accessories (snares, forceps, clips), specimen collection, and assisting with advanced therapeutic interventions.

Position Summary
The RN - Endoscopy provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. Reports to: Director of Endoscopy Department
Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
Documents patient care given.

Responsibility for cleaning and routine care maintenance of scopes and equipment used in endoscopy unit. Facilitate quality patient care and assist professional and/or nursing staff in performing nursing procedures.
Working Conditions:

Responsibility 1:
Plans to prepare for patient care
Washes hands before assuming morning tasks and prior to delivering patient care.
Prepare patient rooms and wipe down all equipment.
Helps prepare procedure room prior to each procedure. Assists in the preparation and maintenance of a clean environment.
Assist with receiving patients by obtaining base line vitals, height and weight upon admission.
Assists with “pulling” supplies, equipment and instruments for procedures after checking with physician concerning the equipment concerning the equipment or supplies.
Assists in the proper preparation of supplies, medication equipment and instrumentation involved in patient care.

Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Endoscopy Technician 1 to join the team. This role will be Full-Time Day Shift - Four Shifts Per Week 7:00AM to 5:30PM ( 10 Hour Shifts) with on call weekends

Job Responsibilities:
Performs and/or provides assistance to the physician and procedural team that reflect an awareness of anatomy, necessary principles, skills, supplies, and adequate knowledge base.
Assists the circulating nurse in implementing the perioperative plan of care to include: patient positioning, updating physician preference cards, care of endoscopic specimens, and room turnover.
Identifies factors relative to the patient's age and developmental stage that must be considered during the surgical procedure.
Assists with pulling cases and checks case carts for completeness; Obtains supplies and equipment and determines them to be in good working order before a case begins.
Prepares the endoscopy room by opening supplies, instruments, and devices based on scheduled procedure and physician preference card.
Exercises care in the operation and use of instruments/equipment/and reports/follow the appropriate procedure for broken items.
Additional Requirements:
Licensure - None Required
Certification - Basic Life Support upon start from AHA
Experience -Healthcare Experience Preferred
Education - High School diploma or equivalent

Strong clinical background

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates advanced knowledge and practice in the role of the Endo tech.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of anatomy and is able to anticipate he required instrumentation for each step of both basic and advanced endoscopic procedures.
Expedites the procedure by anticipating the needs of the endoscopist.
Demonstrates collaboration with other team members in planning/giving patient care; Actively shares knowledge with staff regarding devices/techniques and procedures.
May perform additional duties as assigned.
Additional Requirements:
Certification - Basic Life Support from AHA UPON START
Experience - 1 year Endoscopy Technician experience. Additional Note: Leader recommendation for promotion from Endoscopy Technician 1
Education - High School diploma or equivalent.
Education - The Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates - Associates Program Completion UPON START
