The MRI Technologist operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images for use by physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies. The MRI Technologist maintains knowledge and awareness high magnetic field strength safety. The MRI Technologist will prepare and administer contrast media in accordance with hospital policy and procedure as well as state and federal regulations. The employee obtains patient history and screening forms, explains routine procedures and addresses patient concerns. Responsible for maintaining patient record and files and performs quality assurance on magnetic resonance scanner, as needed.

* Performs procedures to ensure quality patient care in accordance with Radiologist's expectations and protocols
* Ensures compliance with the National Patient Safety goals
* Supports and reports any identified compliance matters
* Participates in hospital and department quality assurance programs to ensure safety and satisfaction

* Contributes to the efficient operation and monitoring of the department and utilizes our resources efficiently

Responsibilities
Operate a scanner to obtain images used to diagnose and treat of pathologies.
Prepare and position patients and select anatomic and technical parameters accurately to produce cross-sectional images of the body.
Perform patient pre-screening, scheduling, and education related to the examination.
Enter and monitor patient data, transfer images from disk to magnetic media to produce the transparency, and develop film in an automatic processor.
Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines.
Ensure prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
Ensure equipment is properly functioning. Report potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.
Assist in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
Requirements
Licensure / Certification / Registration:
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
One or more of the following required:
Cardiographic Tech credentialed from the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Nuclear Medical Tech credentialed from the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Radiologic Technologist specializing in Magnetic Resonance Imaging credentialed from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Medical Sonographer credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Responsible for the daily Quality Control of all Hot Lab and Imaging Equipment.
The technologist must use exceptional communication skills to connect with patients, explain the procedure in a manner that they are calm and comfortable prior to being injected for the procedure.

Job Summary and Qualifications
As a MRI Technologist, you would perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures, by utilizing MRI equipment and your knowledge of anatomy/patient positioning for optimum imaging. You would explain the procedure to the patient and address any questions or concerns he or she may have.

Job Functions
Perform all CT procedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlined in department policy and procedure manual and comply with all applicable federal, state, local and other regulatory requirements.
Controls the flow of patients within the section, in an efficient and timely fashion.
Utilizes supportive protective (i.e., radiation shielding) and immobilization devices as required for patient safety and comfort.
Communicate to the patient the nature of the procedure and answer questions clarifying the procedure for the patient.
Demonstrates practical application of age-related factors.
Assures patient rights and privacy are maintained.
Reports any significant problems related to patient, physicians, procedures, housekeeping, maintenance, supplies, or personnel to the Lead Technologist and/or Assistant Director.
Properly wear radiation monitoring devices.
Demonstrates competency in IV access and IV contrast administration.
Cares for patients while they are in Radiology Department by checking IV's, catheters, tubing airways, and patient monitoring equipment.
Utilize proper sterile techniques in setting up and performing interventional procedures
Properly administers oral and rectal preparations to patients for exams per protocol
Performs reconstructions/3-D imaging and CT angiography per protocol.
Maintains continuing education credits for ARRT licensure.
Demonstrates competency in operating the power injector in a safe manner per department protocol.
Works efficiently and performs all exams within allocated timeframe.
Properly enters charges for exams in RIS (Meditech) in a timely manner.
Takes call as assigned.
What qualifications you will need: Education:
Graduate of an AMA approved program.
Certification/Licensure:
Registered with ARRT in Radiography and CT.
Advanced CT certification preferred.
BCLS Required.

Job Summary and Qualifications
1 Maintains competency and proficiency with all Interventional Radiology equipment in order to obtain quality images.
2 Complies with radiation safety guidelines for patient and self. Utilizes all personal protective equipment. Operates Interventional Radiology equipment safely.
3 Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations (i.e.: Meditech, RIS, PACS) to ensure proper procedural documentation and charges.
4 Renders patient care in a professional and courteous manner. Explain all procedures to the patient. Performs physical assessment by checking IV's, catheters, tubing, etc. Communicates and coordinates all Interventional Radiology procedures with the appropriate caregivers.
5 Prepare equipment, monitor inventory and maintain cleanliness of procedure room and work area.

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
