About the Perioperative RN Training Program
This class is a paid educational program for registered nurses who have an interest in a career path in Surgical Services. The Perioperative Nursing Course is a structured six-month educational program offering training into the challenging specialty of Operating Room nursing. This program combines a standardized, evidence-based online curriculum and textbook readings with hands-on skills labs and a clinical practicum. Working side-by-side with an Operating Room staff nurse preceptor, you will share in the challenges and rewards that occur at our facility, while enjoying personal growth and skills advancement. Peer support, nurturing and continuous feedback will be provided throughout the experience. Participation in the training program requires you to work full time 8-hour days.
After successful completion of the program, you will be offered a full-time position. Please note all the positions available for this program are full time. Usually most positions are on first shift; however, other shifts may be what is available and will be filled according to area of greatest need in the department. Surgical Nurses in the OR have a weekend and holiday rotation and are required to take call.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLYING:
Open to both external and internal Registered Nurses.
Experienced and new grads are welcome to apply.
Candidates must demonstrate a genuine desire to enter the surgical nursing field and must complete at least a 4 hour shadowing experience in surgery prior to acceptance into the program.
External candidates who are ASN prepared must be willing to enroll in a BSN program within a year and complete within 5 years. (Internal candidates under a current BSN commitment must continue his or her degree path).

Under the supervision of a clinical nurse manager, this position will provide nursing care to patients, and:
* Conducts systematic, continuous and comprehensive assessments of patient health status from admission or encounter to discharge across the care continuum to ensure patient safety, collaborating with the healthcare team, patient and family; care addresses all aspects of the individual and family, including age, gender, spiritual, cultural, physical, psychosocial and patient preferences and proactively uses safety surveillance to prevent adverse outcomes

Summary:
