What You'll Do
* Understand and perform custodial functions as directed by Facility Director.
* Maintain cleanliness of building at all times.
* Cleaning, sanitizing, mopping, trash removal, dusting, window cleaning, and grounds keeping.
* Maintain grounds in a safe manner and pleasing appearance according to the season.
* Maintain a safe environment for members and staff while performing work duties.
* Assist with room set up and breakdown, and snow removal as needed.
* Evaluate and report any health, safety or cleanliness issues to supervisor.
* Maintain an adequate inventory of custodial and maintenance supplies.
* Follow all Association and applicable safety standards when performing any tasks.
* Assist with maintaining all buildings and fire suppression inspections.
* Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
* Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What You'll Need
* High school diploma or GED required
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in custodial field.
* Demonstrate knowledge of basic custodial equipment and functions
* Ability to relate well with staff and public
* Obtain and/or maintain a valid driver's license
* Be willing to alter work schedule to deal with job demands and manage competing priorities
* Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire
* Basic computer skills required
* Must be fluent in spoken and written English

* Move, remove, and/or setup furniture, furnishings, supplies, equipment, and any other items, inside specified rooms for special functions as directed.
* Change interior light bulbs that can be reached from the sixth step of a ladder or lower.
* Follow prescribed safety regulations and informs management of potential risks or hazards.
* Complete work requests to notify management of needed repair work.
* Remove snow and ice and apply salt and/or ice melting products to steps and entryways at assigned buildings to a minimum distance of 10' or to the adjacent main walkway that's maintained by the grounds staff.
* Make minor repairs such as, but not limited specifically to, replacing sweeper belts or removing light fixture covers as required.
* Must be willing to learn new procedures and techniques for completing tasks when the college arranges training sessions.
* Must participate with overtime staff coverage, as needed, to address campus needs and will participate on the physical plant weekly "on-call" listing. Refusal to participate will be subject to disciplinary action.
* Additional job-related duties as required by the supervisor.
* Assist in loading and unloading trucks during major moves as required.
* Removes snow and ice from College roads, parking lots, sidewalks and steps.
* May perform athletic and event set-ups and break down as required.

Individual is responsible for various custodial/housekeeping duties as required in the Montgomery County Court House and any other location, as designated. Work Hours = 4:15 PM until 8:15 PM * Individual will have the responsibility to perform routine cleaning procedures including but not limited to sweep, mop floors, dust/polish furniture and equipment, clean glass at entrance doors, empty wastebaskets and remove trash, empty outside trash containers and ensure a clean, sanitary environment. * Adheres to all safety rules for handling and disposing of cleaning agents, including universal precautions and proper use of personal protection equipment. Individual is required to be familiar and follow guidelines for the use of safety equipment when operating power equipment.
* Able to communicate effectively with other staff and visitors. Works harmoniously with other member of staff.
* Each custodian is trained in the proper handling of chemicals and the handling of hazardous items.

The Custodian ensures a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for all YWCA Lancaster facilities by performing daily janitorial duties. This position also assists with minor maintenance tasks and supports the Facilities' team as needed.
What your day looks like:
Perform routine cleaning of restrooms, kitchenettes, offices, hallways, stairwells, and public spaces, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing surfaces.
Empty trash and recycling containers; properly dispose of waste in designated areas.
Replenish restroom and cleaning supplies as needed.
Operate and maintain cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, and carpet shampooers.
Conduct high and low dusting and seasonal deep cleaning (e.g., floor scrubbing, snow shoveling, window washing).
Maintain custodial supply closets in a clean and orderly condition.
Set up, break down, and clean meeting rooms and event spaces per room reservation requests.
Report maintenance issues to Facilities Coordinator through the work order system.
Provide limited support with light maintenance tasks (e.g., changing light bulbs, painting touch-ups, minor wall or ceiling repairs).
Assist Facilities staff with simple plumbing, carpentry, and general repair needs as directed.
Escort contractors or vendors as required.
Prioritize tasks according to schedule and urgency.
Follow OSHA and YWCA safety standards and policies.
Complete daily logs, checklists, or reports as required.
Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Supervisor.

Maintain a clean and neat school facility and grounds for students, teachers, staff and members of the community in order to protect their health and safety.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Clean designated spaces, equipment and materials
Perform room and equipment set-up and breakdown for activities and events
Perform seasonal athletic fields and general grounds work
Perform general labor functions including unloading bulk material from trucks
Maintain building and grounds security
Report building, grounds, and equipment conditions that may need remedied or repaired
Participate in fire and emergency drills, know emergency procedures and the location and use of first-aid and fire fighting equipment
Move furniture and equipment
Assists visitors utilizing the facilities
Responsible for the preservation and maintenance of assigned tools and equipment, as well as assist in the repair of equipment and facilities
Operate various floor equipment, including battery-powered auto-scrubbers/buffers and high-speed/high torque propane burnishers
Perform snow-removal, both operation of fuel-powered snow removal equipment and manual removal using shovel
Perform other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum of one (1) year work experience as a custodian and/or groundskeeper, preferred.
High School diploma or GED certificate.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, students, staff, administrators and community members.
Exhibit effective communication skills.
Being proper stewards of district property, materials and equipment.
Work with a sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
Ability to perform duties with an awareness of all inspection regulations, safety codes and district requirements and school board policies.
Ability to push, pull and carry a minimum of 50 lbs
