The Shipping Operator primarily loads trucks, rail cars and pallets to get customer orders delivered in a timely manner. This position also assists with daily inspection of the cranes and other equipment used and identifies customer's plate using the inventory system.
Main Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Load inventory to be delivered on trucks and railcars and loading heat treat material on pallets using crane, forklift and other equipment
Directs crane operator in loading and unloading inventory
Coordinate with truck drivers to enter and exit building safely
Perform daily inspection of all equipment used to move inventory
Identify available inventory to be shipped
Inspect the bottom of plate and check plate for flatness
Inspect plate after hold codes has been applied
Purge cells
Ensure that bed of trucks, railcars and between lifts are lined with plywood
Maintain supply of plywood in racks with forklift
Stamp plate with dye
Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to operate a crane and forklift, handheld, grinders, die-stamper, hilti gun, and man-lifts
Ability to accurately use a tape measure, pit gauges and micrometer
Basic computer skills
Preferred:
Experience in transportation or trucking industry
