    Responsibilities Peraton is seeking a self-driven and resourceful Senior Network Engineer to join our dynamic Network and Unified Communications Architecture team of network and UC engineers in Arlington, VA. Peraton has served as the prime contractor for this program since its inception in the 1980's. We provide high-level government leaders with reliable secure voice, video, and fax communications anytime, anywhere, in any environment in support of day-to-day operations. We support a secure, worldwide, high-performance communications network comprised of real-time interactive applications allowing complex national and worldwide communications. Peraton provides the O&M of the network infrastructure and its components. We provide integration for development of hardware and software solutions, and engineering support for the delivery of system, network, software, and security solutions. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will bring your years of experience and expertise to propel the team to success and will be a pivotal member of a team that drives work forward within the program. The work is hands-on and requires engineers that can work with limited guidance; that said, the Senior NE will provide technical guidance to junior engineers. You will support the creation and review of network designs, conduct hardware evaluations in a lab and with vendors. We are seeking a proactive candidate who will not shy away from writing a test plan or reading through vendor's technical documents to solve a problem and write a resolution report. The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for but not limited to: Create/modify network drawings, author system engineering documents and plans. Support design, test, and pre-deployment readiness reviews. Support the network operations of the Production system. Provide the team with recommendations on modern engineering approaches and strategies to improve successful task order deployments. Develop, implement, and manage network engineering processes including configuration management and design standards to ensure contract compliance, technological relevancy, and sustainability. Perform capacity planning of the network by monitoring and analyzing network performance and availability. Proactively researches and evaluates tools and technologies, as appropriate, to the network environment, while developing solutions to increase performance and lower the total cost of ownership. Qualifications Required Qualifications: An active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance is required. Must be able to support 2nd or 3rd shift hours. Bachelors degree in engineering (or similar technical field) and eight (8+) years relevant experience; Masters degree and six (6+) years of relevant experience; PhD with three (3+) years of experience. 12 years of relevant experience in the above-cited duties may be substituted in lieu of a completed higher education degree. A current/valid IAT LVL III Certification (Security+ CE, CCNP, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, and CCSP). Experience with the design, implementation, and support of network infrastructure solutions for routing and switching of complex networks. Experience implementing and troubleshooting WAN topologies leveraging ethernet, T-Carrier, and Optical Carrier circuits. Experience and understanding of networking fundamentals such as network protocols and common services (e.g., DNS, FTP, SSH, SNMP). Implementation and troubleshooting experience of networks using concepts/protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, VPNs and emerging concepts such as Software Defined Networking. Prior experience supporting a Government and/or Department of Defense customer. Desired Qualifications: An Engineering degree with a networking focus. Eight (8+) total years of experience in the architecture/design, development, and implementation of Wide Area Network (WAN) architecture. Exceptional verbal, written (including the development of CONOPS and procedural documentation), interpersonal, and presentation skills. Experience using Python to automate routine network tasks. Understanding and experience with Software Defined Network (SDN) deployments. Juniper Enterprise Routing and Switching, Professional (JNCIP-ENT). Specific hands-on technical experience with Cisco collaboration tools, Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM)/ Cisco CallManager (CM), and Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) and Meeting Server/ VQ is highly desirable. The Network Engineer is responsible for but not limited to: Evaluate LAN/WAN performance and capacities to identify problem areas or bottlenecks. Perform a variety of network management services related to the operation, performance, or availability of data communications networks. Responsibility for overall performance and availability of networks Provide LAN/WAN support with skill in network analysis, integration, and tuning. Management of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phones, call managers, and gateways. Qualifications Required Qualifications: An active/current TS/SCI Security Clearance is required. Must be able to support 2nd or 3rd shift hours. Bachelor's degree in engineering (or similar technical field) and five (5) years relevant experience; or a Master's degree and three (3) years of relevant experience; or a PhD and zero (0) years of relevant experience; or a High School Diploma/GED and nine (9) years of relevant experience in the above-cited duties may be substituted in lieu of a completed higher education degree. Must possess either a CCNA Certification or a CCNP Certification. Must have experience with Aruba products. Experience and understanding with Cisco and Juniper devices, VLANs, VPNs, LAN/WAN technologies, and/or routing & switching. Experience in two (2) to three (3) of the following areas: Network troubleshooting Routers/switches Cisco IOS/Junos OS Firewalls NetScout/Wireshark or any other packet investigation/analysis tools SolarWinds monitoring or database tools Call Manager & unity or other OSCP, DNS, QoS, VPN Operational experience with local and wide area network infrastructures (including routers, firewalls, switches, servers, and related hardware). Previous experience supporting a Government and/or Department of Defense customer. Desired Qualifications: A current/valid IAT LVL III Certification (Security+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, and CCSP). Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Cisco CallManager, now known as Cisco Unified CM or CUCM) and Cisco Meeting Server (CMS) platforms is highly desired. Experience and understanding of CCNA and CCNP layer 2 and 3 network configurations to include OSPF EIGRP, BGP, VLANS, and IPSEC enabled GRE tunnels as well as basic CallManger phone provisioning tasks. An Engineering degree with a networking focus. Ability to generate documentation that describes standard operating procedures, which will be used by help desk personnel. Experience with application of DoD IAVAs and STIGs. Proficient in network monitoring/management systems familiarity. Solid written and verbal communication skills. Strong investigative drive and listening skills, self-motivated individuals. The ability to work under pressure and be flexible with their time. Ability to prioritize and document tasks is a plus. Target Salary Range $104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
