About this Unit:
Looking for an opportunity to gain experience on multiple units? If so, our Float Pool team is an excellent opportunity! During orientation, you will be based in Medical Surgical units and will float to each unit with a preceptor and your over-all orientation time, as well as unit-specific orientation time, will be determined by level of experience.
A member of the interdependent team led by a designated RN, is accountable to perform patient care duties and activities for a group of patients. Performs such care as vital sign checks, bladder scanning, blood sugar testing, documentation of cares provided. Reports patient care data and progress of outcomes to designated RN.
Job Expectations:
Demonstrates dedication to the universal guiding principles of the patient care model in order to achieve the Fairview Nursing vision.
Supports the Nursing Process to achieve outcome focused patient care. Supports comprehensive nursing theory based on Watson's theory of caring aligning with the practice standards of the American Holistic Nurses' Association and the nursing care model (Professional Partnership Model) to acquire the Nursing vision.
Communicates accurately and efficiently with patient/family and health care team members. Reinforces patient education as advised by clinical staff.
Documents patient information in EHR and/or other electronic system in accordance with program standards, department policies/procedures.
Maintains knowledge of, and follows all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
Performs other responsibilities as needed/assigned.
Strong Attendance and Reliability
Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:
* Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program
AND ONE or more of the following:
Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack NursingAssistant training program.
Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, NursingAssistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)
Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
Current certification on the Minnesota NursingAssistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another NursingAssistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position

Often referred to as the most talked about neighborhood in Austin, Community First! Village is a 51-acre master planned development that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness. We are now embarking on a new phase of community expansion, adding more than 1400 new neighbors over the next 5-10 years.
About the Role
The Neighbor Care Afternoon & Weekend Assistant supports the mission of MLF's Neighbor Care team to settle, cultivate, and care for our formerly homeless neighbors at Community First! Village. This role helps create a consistent and welcoming presence in the afternoons and on Saturdays by staffing key community spaces like the Living Room, supporting events and volunteer engagement, and assisting with day-to-day communications and coordination. It's a hands-on, relational role that contributes to building a strong sense of community.
This is a part-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Neighbor Engagement Manager. The role requires afternoon and evening availability during the week and daytime availability on Saturdays. Schedule flexibility is , as hours may shift depending on the needs of the team and Village activities. The Neighbor Care Afternoon & Weekend Assistant will office at Community First! Village located at 9301 Hog Eye Road, Austin, TX 78724.
Duties & Responsibilities
Provide staffing for evening and weekend coverage in order to assist the Neighbor Care (NC) team, promote a culture of Community, and provide additional volunteer opportunities
Collaborate with the Neighbor Engagement team to steward volunteers and events, staff the Living Room and perform various tasks as needed in the evenings and on Saturday.
Empower volunteer groups and volunteers to be creative with the ways they engage with neighbors at the Living Room or neighbor events
Support recurring volunteers by inviting them into community and by managing follow up communications and appreciation
Relay information to neighbors: update bulletin boards, post flyers, deliver birthday meals, deliver individual messages, write messages on our virtual forms of communication, and maintain our public facing calendar for neighbor events
Participate in Neighborhood Council Meetings and support communication between Council Members and Neighbor Care
Support Neighbor Leaders in welcoming neighbors and volunteers into community spaces
Coordinate with onsite partners to increase evening and weekend coverage in their programs and onsite events
Respond to neighbor issues or emergencies as they may arise
Document and share vital information with the rest of NC staff
Attend monthly staff meetings, Neighbor Care team meetings, and other meetings as required

The NursingAssistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The NursingAssistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The NursingAssistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.
Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include:
* Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, Feeding,
* Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams,
* Oral hygiene,
* Specimen collection/testing,
* Position/ambulating,
* Changing linens,
* Promptly answers call lights.
* Assists the nurse in monitoring patient condition.
* Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation.
* Places patient on/off monitors or equipment.
* Reports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner.
* Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.
* Orients patient and their family to the environment.
* Assures the patient's belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge.
* Transports patients, equipment, specimen and supplies.
* Assures patients get to appointments on time.
* Uses transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulation.
* Cleans sets up, and maintains rooms and equipment.
* Orders and stocks supplies.
* Accurately documents tasks performed on appropriate form.
* Performs other tasks as needed.
License/Certification/Registration
* Successful completion of Fairview's OnTrack NursingAssistant training program or another Fairview sponsored NursingAssistant program
OR
* Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, NursingAssistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician
OR
* Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program
OR
* Current certification on the Minnesota NursingAssistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another NursingAssistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
* Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
