Clinical Research Technicians (CRT) provide technical and administrative support to faculty and students engaged in clinical research and scholarly activities. Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) assisting with administrative tasks, ensuring compliance with research protocols, facilitating communication with relevant stakeholders and study subjects, training and supervising students and new research personnel in clinical research theory and methodology, facilitating successful recruitment of study participants, and supports the retrieval and maintenance of de-identified patient data. The Laboratory and Research Technician 2 role provides support for research in mucosal immunology in the Petri Laboratory encompassing projects related to mucosal inflammation, gut repair and vaccine development. Lab Techs focus on performing routine research tasks and developing skills. Studies in Dr. Marto's lab are aimed at understanding how genetic mutation or the action of small molecule probes impact the functional proteome, including protein post-translational modifications, biochemical complexes, signaling pathways, or how they manifest en masse as phenotypic or disease signatures. The successful candidate will work closely with senior lab personnel to design and implement experiments to quantify cellular proteins or PTMs as well as to identify on- and off-target binding of small molecule probes at the level of individual proteins, related gene families (e.g., kinases or other enzymes), and proteome-wide. These proteomic and chemical proteomic studies span multiple laboratory activities including tissue culture, extraction and isolation of proteins and peptides, target engagement assays, activity-based protein profiling, biochemical validation assays, and analysis of large-scale mass spectrometry data. This role will assist in a project that requires extensive use of human cells in tissue culture and a significant portion of the applicant's time will be spent in the propagation, construction and maintenance of genetically engineered cell lines. Specifically, the purpose of this position is to plan and conduct research experiments as well as analyze results focusing on the construction, identification and characterization of human cell lines that have been genetically modified to contain mutant alleles of DNA2. General Information: This position will perform research for a grant that recruits middle and high school students from marginalized backgrounds into healthcare professions. Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include: * compiling annotated bibliographies and demographic research on topics associated with grant activity * writing short research reports * deploying surveys and other data collection tools under guidance of investigators * managing and compiling survey and other data collection results under the guidance of investigators * other research duties as assigned that are appropriate to the grant project Qualifications: Primary Qualifications: * Successful completion of IRB training in Human Subjects Research (Please attach proof of completion under Other Document #1) * Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary academic experience (please attach your transcripts) * Strong writing and research skills proven by a research paper written for a class Secondary Qualifications * Knowledge of statistical analysis demonstrated in classes taken * Knowledge of research methods in health and/or social sciences demonstrated in classes taken Additional Posting Information: Looking for Summer and Fall 2025 applicants.
