    Atlantic Health is Seeking an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) for the Cardiac Step-Down Unit at Morristown Medical Center The Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Medical Center is seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Professional (APP) to join the team on the 12-bed Cardiac Step-Down Unit. The APP will work collaboratively with physicians, fellow APPs, and the multidisciplinary care team to assess, manage, and coordinate care for acutely ill cardiac patients. Responsibilities include direct involvement in medical consultation, patient assessments, procedures, and care planning. The APP will specialize in the management of complex cardiac conditions, recommend diagnostic testing, and initiate appropriate treatment strategies in collaboration with the attending team. Ideal candidates will have procedural experience, including central and arterial line placement, and a background in critical care or step-down environments. Point-of-care ultrasound experience is preferred. This is a full-time role with 12-hour shifts, nights only, no call, and one weekend per month required. Externship Details: Timeframe: 8-week experience starting Monday, June 1st, 2026, and ending Friday, July 24 th , 2026 Opportunity for continued employment after the externship as a per diem Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, or Secretary/Technician Shifts: May include days, nights, and weekends (must be flexible) Work requirement: Three 12-hour or five 8-hour shifts working side by side with preceptor(s). Shift times may vary depending on unit placement. Vacation time: Vacation is not permitted during this 8-week period. Pay: Bi-weekly paycheck at a rate of $18.50/hour Under the guidance of a certified preceptor, externs will be able to: Observe the professional role of the Registered Nurse Learn and enhance critical thinking skills Build confidence by practicing and delivering basic nursing care, skills, and competencies Develop nursing and time-management skills Requirements include: A minimum of a 3.0 GPA Two letters of recommendation from Clinical Instructors/Professors BLS certification Interviews will be scheduled during Winter break between the Fall and Spring semester *Once you speak with the recruiter, you will send your required documents.
