Job Description Position Summary: The CNC Mill & Lathe Machinist at Atlantic Precision Inc produces machined aerospace parts through programming, setting up and operating the machine; following quality and safety standards; keeping records; and maintaining equipment and supplies. Produce machined parts by setting up and operating manual lathe and mill machines by cutting materials based on specifications in a blueprint 2.0 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES * Produces finished parts to meet blueprint specifications * Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering drawings, materials specifications, interpreting dimensions and tolerances, mathematics, sequence of operations, and set up requirements * Plans tooling and stock/materials needed * Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material as guide for subsequent machining * Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as stock feed, coolant flow, speed, depth, and angle of cut * Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings * Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjusts controls as required; replacing dull tools * Shape steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, and magnesium * Uses lathes and horizontal boring equipment * Maintains production and quality logs 3.0 SKILLS AND SPECIFICATIONS * Must be able to read and interpret Blueprints * Must be able to use Micrometer and Calipers * Strong attention to detail * Ability to QC own work and work of the team * Experience using overhead cranes to move machinery * Ability to work as a cohesive member of the Production team * Ability to produce quality work in a production environment to meet deadlines * Demonstrate ability to work safely and meet OSHA guidelines in a manufacturing environment 4.0 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT: * The noise level in the production area is usually loud * Ability to lift 50 pounds * Work is a "shop environment" with moving mechanical parts, electrical parts and vibration equipment * Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations * Maintains machines and tools using preventative maintenance requirements Salary: Starting at $30.00 per hour depending on experience. JOB title: Manual Machinist REPORTS TO: Production Manager - Metals Job Classification: Non-Exempt Job Status: Metals JOB Purpose: The Machinist position is responsible to manufacture high-quality products while maintaining accurate inventory counts in a safe efficient manner. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Must be proficient running conventional machines (Lathes, mills etc.) Must be able to read prints, duplicate existing or sample part. Be self-sufficient and able to complete a wide variety of jobs in a timely manner with individual quality control. Be a team player, help customers and collaborate with co-workers. Have the ability to work with tight tolerances. Have a strong math background. Must have a valid driver license. Able to work overtime when necessary. Welding experience is a bonus. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties as assigned. KnowLedge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to calculate cutter speeds and feeds. Ability to read CNC G&M codes. Ability to read and modify CAD drawings for standard practices and standardization of equipment and parts. Ability to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. Knowledge of English and Metric thread standards. Knowledge of sliding and press fit standards. Ability to setup and operate Vertical, Horizontal & Lathe machining centers. Basic knowledge of metals heat treating. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Advanced shop mathematic skills, including ability to calculate lengths, angles and distances. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 3+ years of experience. Mastercam/ESPRIT experience a plus. Previous practical machine shop or equivalent experience doing close tolerance work from blueprints, sketches, CAD drawings and verbal instructions. Aircraft experience preferred but not a requirement.
