JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
The Driver, Shuttle (Class B) operates the VOALA Passenger shuttle bus, or other VOALA vehicle, and performs scheduled delivery and pick-up routes, transports Program participants and staff as required, may deliver meals to outlying programs and conducts donation collection as needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Transports individual program participants to and from various locations such as human service locations, work sites, and medical facilities
Assists passengers in securing wheelchairs, car seats and other mobility devices
Ensures safety of passengers, operates vehicle in safe manner at all times
As needed may perform Kitchen drop off for various inter-agency locations in a timely manner; assists kitchen staff with inventory and loading vehicle
Perform scheduled routes for pick up and drop off
Conducts donation pick up from outside agencies.
Maintains trip records as well as mileage and gasoline usage records
Maintain program vehicle in good operating condition, clean vehicle and equipment after each pick-up and delivery, and takes vehicle for routine maintenance and repairs
Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications
EDUCATION:
Valid Class B Commercial California Driver s License (CDL) or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire, and clean driving record
EXPERIENCE:
One-year experience as delivery or passenger driver.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
First Aid/CPR certification.
Food handler certification.
Bilingual English/Spanish or other language

Position Summary
Driver picks up food rescue items from the routes within San Diego County for redistribution to those facing food insecurity. The driver may be utilized for additional pick-ups and deliveries, as needed.
Essential Functions
Pick up food from various organizations within the seven routes in San Diego County.
Record and document temperatures, total counts, and other necessary information.
Assist in unloading of the food at the Corps, to included properly documenting the amount of food received for reporting purposes.
Check the daily condition of vehicle to ensure that it is properly maintained in working mechanical order, record daily condition and mileage on vehicle inspection log.
Maintain the internal and external cleanliness of the vehicle.
Perform other duties, as assigned.
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinets drawers and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone.
Minimum Qualifications
Grant funded position requires current homeless status.
Must be able to read, write and communicate well in English.
Bilingual in English / Spanish, helpful.
Must have or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire a Food Handler's Card.
Prior experience driving a 12+ passenger van, preferred.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Work is performed outside on a loading dock and at donation sites, Goodwill Central Coast retail stores and donors' homes with periods of time spent inside buildings and the truck cab. High School Graduate.
Minimum five years experience in driving large class “A” vehicles.
Must have a current Commercial Driver's License and clean DMV record.
Ability to properly load merchandise into the trucks, securing loads, and conduct a
pre-trip inspection of the vehicles.
Ability to read and utilize maps.
Ability to assist Truck Driver Helper in cleaning of the vehicles.
Must be able to recognize any unsafe condition of the vehicles and other problems related to the job.
Ability to communicate, read, and write English
