Reporting to the Director of the Yonkers Campus, and the Dean of the School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering at the Valhalla Campus, the Senior Technical Assistant (WCC)/ Biology Lab Technician will ensure that the science labs/facilities equipment are available for faculty and student use at both campuses. They will explain and/or demonstrate the use of laboratory equipment to aid students and faculty. The Senior Technical Assistant (WCC)/ Biology Lab Technician performs routine and preventive maintenance and repair of equipment, calling for repairs when needed and maintaining logs. They will also maintain an inventory of supplies/equipment relating to areas of assignment, prepares and submits requisitions ordering supplies/equipment relating to areas of assignment, maintain the cleanliness of labs, and utilize supplies and equipment.
Additional responsibilities include:
* Receive and inspect equipment and/or supplies to ensure correct order, quality and condition of items received.
* Keep detailed records and track all expenses to aid in the assessment of lab needs.
* Maintain cleanliness in the lab and the storage area and prep room, for all equipment and science class materials, ensuring adherence to required safety standards.
* Support the science class faculty in preparation for class/lab and during class as needed.
* Interpret program/class activities to applicants, participants, students and other community groups.
* Use technical skills and independent judgment in using a variety of automated systems and peripherals to perform administrative functions including, but not limited to, departmental support functions, and input and updating of student data relating to admissions, registration, etc.
* Use automated systems to track and monitor activities in a variety of areas, including but not limited to, admissions, registration, inventory control, student enrollment, etc.
* Use computer applications and other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software in performing work assignments.
* Prepare and distribute pamphlets, leaflets, brochures and other informational materials.
* Resolve student problems relating to specific classroom programs and or scheduling conflicts, admissions, registration, etc.
* Assist the Program Administrator of the Yonkers Learning Commons with scheduling of tutoring sessions for students for the science classes offered at the Yonkers Center.
* Assist on-site administration with facility-related tasks, support students at the Information Desk and in the Learning Commons
* Prepare and process requisitions for the purchase of science equipment.
* Assist the Center Team with other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a high school or equivalency diploma and three years of experience in the area of specialty. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word, is required. Excellent customer service and communication skills are also required. The successful candidate must possess the ability to work effectively with others, including staff, students, and faculty.

Brief Description:
The Fine and Performing Arts Department seeks additional technical assistance on an hourly timesheet for the theatrical productions and events with the ICSD theaters for 2024-2025. The Technical Assistant will provide implementation and/or supervision of the technical operations for the theatrical productions or events within the ICSD theaters. * Approval of production designs that fall within the scope of the production in regards to time, resources and budget.
* Scenery construction and implementation is completed and falls within the scope of the production in regards to time, resources and budget.
* Supervision and training is provided to the tech crew engaged in technical activities for the production and performances or event.
* Assurance of proper operation and care of all AV and technical equipment.

Further, the HSE Examiner maintains an inventory of supplies/equipment related to area of assignment. Assists in the preparation of purchase requisitions for said supplies/equipment. Receives and inspects equipment/supplies to ensure correct order, quality and condition. May be responsible for researching various reference materials in an effort to select the most cost-effective and efficient items for use. Initiates Help Desk tickets/calls for repairs when needed; maintains logs of same to track billing by outside vendors/departments.
Applies technical skills and independent judgment in using a variety of automated systems and peripherals to perform administrative functions. Uses Microsoft Office applications and other automated systems to perform work assignments. Maintains detailed records and files related to all administrative activities. May perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree from a nationally accredited college or university, and experience in teaching, training, counseling, or testing. The successful candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented, and able to meet deadlines. They must also be able to work with colleagues within the organization and with external agencies and have effective communication skills.

As the Technical Assistant in the Simulation Lab, you'll prepare, maintain, and operate our state-of-the-art high-fidelity simulators and educational technologies. Typical Work Activities
Simulation Lab Operations
* Set up, test, and operate high-fidelity simulators and related equipment for scheduled lab sessions.
* Prepare lab environments (beds, IVs, task trainers, medical equipment) to align with faculty-developed clinical scenarios.
* Support faculty with scenario implementation and troubleshoot technical issues during simulation sessions.
* Break down simulation setups and reset labs for subsequent use.
* Provide technical orientation to faculty and students regarding simulation equipment and lab procedures.
Maintenance and Inventory
* Maintain and ensure functionality of simulation equipment, including mannequins, task trainers, computers, and AV systems.
* Coordinate regular maintenance and repair of equipment with vendors (e.g., Laerdal, CAE, Gaumard).
* Maintain inventory of supplies, reorder consumables, and ensure availability of simulation materials.
* Manage lab security and cleanliness protocols.
Collaboration and Support
* Attend simulation planning meetings and collaborate with Nursing faculty to support instructional goals.
* Participate in student simulations to provide operational support and ensure realism.
* Assist in compiling simulation usage and performance data for program assessment and reporting.
* Participate in professional development to stay current with advancements in simulation technology.
Compliance and Safety
* Ensure compliance with college safety policies and protocols within the simulation lab.
* Respond appropriately to incidents in the lab, including reporting and documentation in accordance with college procedures.

Essential Functions
Must be able to operate simulation laboratory equipment; must be able to navigate relationships with a diverse population; must be able to operate computers; must be able to speak to groups; ability to perform diagnostic examinations; ability to supervise and motivate students, must be able to prepare reports and documentation required in performance of duties; ability to work independently and in a team based educational environment; must be able to physically perform the duties of the position such as lift and move equipment and supplies for lab setup.
Required Qualifications
* Associates Degree in Nursing
* Current NYS Registered Nurse (RN) license
* Experience using software and systems associated with medical simulation
Desirable Qualifications
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing
* Experience using course management system such as Brightspace
* Familiarity with high-fidelity simulation equipment (e.g., Laerdal, CAE, or Gaumard) and software.
* Experience with programming scenario applications for simulation;
* Recent experience (within previous 5 years) in acute medical/surgical area;
* Experience working in a college learning environment.
