The Nursing Technician performs patient care and non-patient care functions within their scope of practice under the direction of a Registered Professional Nurse. The Monitoring Technician is responsible for on-going surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RNs and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. Measures and interprets patients' heart rhythm and documents on patient record per departmental standards. Initiates and discontinues monitoring equipment on admission, transfer, or discharge.
