Reporting directly to an assigned manager, responsible for performing general day to day custodial, maintenance, and groundskeeping duties within an assigned location. Provides visitors and other customers with accurate information regarding parks operations and/or facilities. Assignment areas include River Ranch Park, Berry Springs Park, Southwest Regional Park, or Williamson County Expo Center. Level I of III in Parks MaintenanceTechnicians.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
* Performs basic maintenance tasks such as plumbing, painting, landscaping, and cleaning
* Cleans and maintains safety standards in common areas and restrooms
* Operates a variety of motorized equipment and hand-held tools
* Performs equipment preventative maintenance
* Maintains plants, mows, propagates, cultivates, and/or trims grass, trees, flowers, shrubs, and brush
* Assists in the construction and assembly of equipment
* Operates various heavy and light machinery and equipment
* Clears fallen limbs and foliage
* Cleans and maintains all equipment and vehicles
* Inspects equipment, including hand tools, chainsaws, and vehicles
* Detects, reports, and assists in correcting safety hazards in the parks
* Provides direct customer service either in person or on the telephone, to include information regarding parks and park rules
* May perform minor painting, fence repairs and other related repairs
* Performs occasional financial transactions such as collecting payments and balancing cash drawers
* Assists in inventory control
* Communicates with the office support staff, other county personnel, vendors, and the public, as necessary
* Manages efforts of volunteer groups (schedules activities, equipment, materials, keeps records of work performed, etc.)

What you will do at Precinct One
Harris County- Commissioner Precinct One has an opportunity for an Operator II in our Right of Way and Trail Maintenance area. The selected candidate/s will offer a responsive service to Precinct One constituents by maintaining right of ways and assigned trails. You will assist team members in the prioritizing and completion of all assigned projects and proposed projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In addition, the successful candidate/s will maintain a thorough understanding of how to safely use equipment including commercial mowers, weed trimmers, shovels, and rakes. The role is responsible for cleaning ditches and culverts of brush, trimming branches, and bushes, picking up trash on roadways and right-of-ways, and hiking and bike trails.
You will keep areas free of litter, heavy trash, and other debris. Inspect equipment, and vehicles daily, and make referrals to Fleet Management when necessary. Comply with safety protocols and precinct policies and procedures. Complete safety training and professional development initiatives. Report all accidents/injuries to your manager and complete the proper paperwork.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Performs diversified work of the Water/Wastewater Maintenance Operations to include repairs and installation of sewer mains, water mains, service lines, fire hydrants, and lift station maintenance, etc.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Essential Duties*
Performs maintenance and installation of all equipment and materials associated with the Water/Wastewater maintenance and collection system
Delivers and erects barricades at designated locations and repairs and replaces broken and/or burned out lights on barricades
Uses hand tools to dig ditches or holes
Hand-shovels dirt, gravel, asphalt, or sand
Tamps, packs, and levels dirt, sand, asphalt, or other material
Loads and unloads materials and equipment
Performs preventive maintenance on city vehicles, tools, and equipment
Maintains tools and shop in neat and organized manner
Installs water and sewer lines and repairs leaks and broken lines
Works with jackhammer and air compressor
Operates various types of water tapping machinery depending on size and type of pipe
Installs, replaces, and removes water valves and water meters

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: Water/Wastewater Maintenance Department Operations or ability to learn said operations and maintenance. Demonstrated Ability to: lift and maneuver equipment and materials weighing up to 92 lbs. (i.e. meters, meter lids, pipe valves, etc.); must be able to enter and exit a 24 inch diameter manhole opening without difficulty; must be able to enter and exit a 24 inch wide ditch, maneuvering freely while operating necessary equipment; perform strenuous work in the outdoors under adverse weather conditions; and safely operate all equipment required.
ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
H.S. diploma/GED and ability to obtain Collections level I license and CDL within agreed upon time frame
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Collections Level I license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and State of Texas Class B (commercial) driver's license with air brakes.

Summary of Position
Under the direct supervision of the Utility Foreperson and/or their designated representative, performs technical tasks in the operation, maintenance and repair of the water distribution and wastewater collection system.
