Our Mechanics are the backbone of our fleet. As such they perform preventive maintenance and repairs to our fleet of trucks and equipment to ensure our vehicles are ready to service our customers! Duties and Responsibilities: * Diagnose and Repair vehicle systems, including air brakes, electrical, hydraulic, engine and emission related equipment. * Diagnose and repair specialty equipment * Respond to road calls or breakdowns when necessary * Order Parts and Supplies as necessary * Utilize Dossier Fleet Management Software to record repairs and maintenance * Assist the regional fleet manager or supervisor to facilitate resolution of fleet related issues. * Perform Preventive Maintenance on various types of vehicles and equipment * Perform inspections and document conditions on all equipment * Assist in coordinating repairs with outside vendors * Ensure that all Federal, State, and Local EPA, DOT, ANSI, OSHA and Safety laws and regulations concerning fleet operations are adhered to * Other duties as required Work Environment * You are regularly exposed outside weather conditions, non-hazardous fumes and noise * Must be comfortable working independently * Interaction with customers Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Ability to read and interpret documents including Company policies and procedures, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, maps and road signs. * Ability to speak, cooperate and communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and management. * Ability to work independently and manage pressure to meet deadlines. * Basic computer literacy including email and internet skills. * Ability to perform basic math functions. . Requirements Required Qualifications * At least 5+ years' working in a fleet or transportation industry with direct experience in medium/heavy truck repair * Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record * Must hold a Class B CDL with ability and willingness to obtain a tanker endorsement if requested * Prior experience working in a fleet or transportation industry is required. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office -Excel, Outlook is preferred. * Experience using fleet management software, databases, and web programs preferred. * Strong time-management/organizational skills * Strong attention to detail * Maintain a high level of integrity and make ethical decisions * Welding experience is preferred * Ability to successfully pass DOT drug screen, medical certification, physical exam and road exams * Must be able to operate in a drug-free workplace * Must be able to meet physical demands evaluation * The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $35.00-$42.00 hourly at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills. The Mechanic provides mechanical and preventative maintenance duties in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of equipment, trucks, and vehicles at the location. * Inspects, maintains and repairs or adjusts parts on equipment, trucks and vehicles. * Keeps maintenance records. * Places orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment repair or services. * Recommends purchases of new equipment and supplies or outsourcing of repairs. * Maintain miscellaneous equipment in the yard or at customer sites (i.e., mags, bins, silos, containers, pumps, etc.). * Maintains tools and equipment provided by Austin Powder Company. * Orders and stock parts according to usage records, using designated suppliers. * Performs or schedules all fleet repairs and maintenance with proper documentation to meet regulatory agency and APC policies. * Keeps garage and work area clean and organized. * Reports employee, vendor or equipment issues to Location Manager. * Develops and maintains positive work relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors, and government agencies. * Displays work behaviors that are honest and ethical in pursuit of APC business goals. * Maintains a safe working environment in compliance with all regulations and APC policies. * Completes and maintains a safe working environment in compliance with all regulations and APC policies. * Maintains all required licenses and/or certifications needed to perform mechanical duties and operate equipment at the location. * Other duties as assigned. Education and Experience * High school or equivalent (GED) degree * 21+ years of age as required by DOT. * 5 years mechanic experience * 2 years driving experience with a Class B CDL, preferably with X -combination endorsement. * Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with the following classes: Skills and Knowledge * Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure. * Ability to solve practical problems and deal with situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. * Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, product bulletins, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to identify products by sight. * Ability to speak effectively with employees and customers. Job Description Road Mechanic position is responsible for maintenance and repairs of on and offroad equipment and out on crew jobsites daily with occasional travel to the shop or office.
