Summary:
Provides armed security and safety services in all areas of the hospital, hospital properties, and the hospital's off-campus sites as assigned. Creates and maintains a safe, secure environment for the hospital's patients, visitors, staff, and assets and to manage potentially violent, disruptive, hazardous, and emergency situations through preventative patrol, investigation, and complaint resolution. During the initial training period Officers will be trained to work at multiple care sites and rotated throughout those care sites during this period. After successful completion of the training and introductory period, Officers will be assigned to a care site based on department needs.
Officers should expect to be assigned a home care site, but may be required to float to other care sites as operational needs dictate.
Responsibilities And Duties:
Provides armed safety and security services in all areas of the hospital and grounds; patrols hospital, parking areas and off-site locations to observe, protect and provide assistance as needed.
Observes, corrects, reports and documents incidents of risk-related situations to management. Identifies, reports and corrects security and safety breeches. Conducts and assists in investigations of criminal and administrative incidents in the best interest of the hospital.
Handles valuable items as needed. Assists with violent or potentially violent patients, visitors and staff when called throughout the hospital. Enforces Hospital Policy as related to security will be a 1st responder to all emergency situations, provide safety and security services in all areas of the OhioHealth and grounds; foot patrol of the hospital and surrounding campus; mobile patrol of parking areas and off site locations to observe and provide assistance.
Observe, correct, report and document incidents to management; identify, report and correct security and safety breaches; provide surveillance and security in the parking areas.
Work independently to determine the correct response to most situations and initiate actions accordingly. Conduct and assist in investigations of criminal and administrative incidents; participate in the hospital lost and found program. Assist with violent or potentially violent patients, visitors, and staff in the Emergency Department, Behavioral Health Unit, and other areas of the hospital.
Enforce and implement hospital policies related to security/safety. Assist in the hospital control center and other operational areas during breaks or staff shortage. Control access and monitor security of drugs in the hospital pharmacies through the hospitals access control system.
Assist patients and visitors with automobile difficulty, such as changing tires, retrieving keys locked inside car, and other general needs. Investigate narcotic alarms, losses, and discrepancies. Each Security/Protective Services Officer must maintain a level of fitness which will allow him/her to respond fully to strenuous and or critical physical activity.
Takes lead on special projects as assigned, maintains minimum training levels each year as defined by leadership, performs any function and/or training as assigned. Driving is an essential function of the job.
Management reserves the right to make changes to the assignments, training levels required and/or to the general required competency levels.

Additional Job Description:
OPOTC Private Security Twenty (20) Hours Firearms Certification or Ohio Peace Officer Basic Training Certificate. Basic computer skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills. Day shift coverage 7am-3pm
Make rounds to monitor inside and outside of building, according to established procedures; walk through all residential and non-residential areas of the building.
Communicate at shift change with oncoming officers; exchange any relevant information to keep other security personnel and/or Plant Director informed. Keep shift log up-to-date and completed by the end of the shift.
Complete required reports, including training reports for fire drills, and safety/fire inspection reports as needed.
Lock and unlock doors at required times; check all doors required to be locked; if you find unlocked doors, lock them and write it on the report log; close and lock windows as required.
Respond to resident emergency call system.
Qualifications
Previous law enforcement or security experience preferred.
Prefer previous customer service or hospitality experience.
Must have the ability to work under pressure, without constant direction and to react in a positive and spontaneous manner to the needs of
residents, staff, visitors, and vendors.

Position Summary: The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of people, property, and assets within the designated area of Lindner Center of Hope (LCOH). They monitor and patrol premises, enforce security policies, respond to incidents, and assist in emergency situations. Major Duties and Responsibilities: · Surveillance & Patrol: Conduct regular patrols of the premises to detect and prevent security threats. · Access Control: Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification, and ensure only authorized personnel have access. · Incident Response: Respond to alarms, disturbances, or emergency situations, and take appropriate action. · Reporting: Document and report suspicious activities, security breaches, or incidents. · Customer Assistance: Provide directions, answer inquiries, and assist employees or visitors when needed. (Employee escorts/lockouts/vehicle jumpstarts, unlock offices, etc.) · Emergency Management: Assist in evacuations, fire safety procedures, and first-aid responses. · Collaboration: Assist LCOH Police Officers and Mason Police Officers as requested and needed while on LCOH premises. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate effectively using age-specific and developmentally appropriate care for the spectrum of populations admitted to LCOH.
Responds quickly and participates in restraint and seclusion situations. Assists the interdisciplinary team as needed and takes directions from the person in charge.
Conducts inspections and documents potential and real security, health and safety hazards. Upon discovery, officers shall conduct initial investigation if needed and submit a Plant Operations work request.

Position Qualifications:
Minimum High School Education or GED, some college preferred.
Previous Security Officer experience.
Experience working in a hospital environment, namely with mentally ill patients preferred.
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record is required, per Ohio Administrative Code, Rule 5122-30-31. Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) reports will be done annually.
A willingness to cover all shifts is required.
Physical Requirements: Employees must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, and be able to stand or walk about 90% of a work shift. GENERAL SUMMARY AND SCOPE Responsible for the safety and security of all people and property in and around the facilities. The Security Officer will make periodic checks of the properties to insure the safety and security of all persons and properties. The Security Officer is always aware of his/her surroundings, watching for any type of illegal occurrences, fire or other hazardous conditions. Responds to emergency situations to assist parties in need.
ESSENTIAL TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Protects and serves the patients, staff and visitors of FRMC.
* Monitors medical center buildings and grounds to maintain a safe and secure environment and takes appropriate action to resolve problems.
* Investigates incidents, accidents, or complaints on medical center property.
* Completes the necessary reports accurately and in a timely manner. Coordinates with local police and fire departments. Conducts general safety inspections of building & grounds and visual inspections of Life Safety equipment.
* Provides physical intervention when needed to subdue or restrain persons to protect individuals from harm. Responds to Code Violet calls. Operates detecting devices and performs searches to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles into restricted areas.
* Warns persons of rule infractions or violations and evicts violators from premises, using force when necessary.
OTHER TASKS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Administers Breath Alcohol tests. (Completion of DOT Certification required) Inspects fire extinguishers, fire doors, emergency exit lights, panic alarms, and AED's.
* Demonstrates responsibility for continued growth, competence, and development.
* Assists patients, visitors and employees. Provides personal assistance, first aid, emotional support or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers or patients.

* High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
* Prior military, police or security experience preferred. Must achieve Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certificate for police training or International Association of Healthcare Safety and Security certification within six months of hire.
* Must have BAT (Breath Alcohol Technician) certification upon hire or obtained within six months of hire with re-certification every 5 years.
* Must have CPR/AED/First Aid certification upon hire or obtained within three months of hire with re-certification every 2 years. Must have Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training upon hire or obtained within six months of hire with re-certification every 2 years.
