1855 Assistant/Associate/Full Professor
The College of Engineering at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for a tenure-system faculty position in socially responsive and community-focused engineering that focuses on expanding access and opportunity. Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. in an engineering field or a closely related discipline at the time of appointment, with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2026. Appointments will be made in the Departments of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and/or Mechanical Engineering based on existing strengths and capabilities and the candidate's preferences. Joint appointments with other departments are also possible. This will be a full-time, academic-year appointment in the tenure system, with tenure, if appropriate, at a salary commensurate with the candidate's background and experience. Those who conduct research that broadens access to education and innovation, addresses barriers to participation, or enhances the university's ability to serve communities are of high interest.

* Practice interactive pedagogical techniques to engage students and enhance the student experience in the classroom.
* Implement relevant, creative, and effective teaching methodologies and tool utilization (including the appropriate and professional use of AI) to engage learners and inspire original thinking, problem solving, global sustainability, professional communications, ethics, and entrepreneurial mindset
* Assess student learning based on institutional outcomes, course goals and objectives in an unbiased, timely, and respectful manner.
* Hold regularly scheduled office hours (minimum of one hour per week for each three semester credit hour course) and be available to students on a regular basis.
* Work collaboratively with other faculty members, departments, and staff to develop a meaningful experience for students.

Required Qualifications and Skills
* An earned JD or LLM degree from an institutionally (i.e., regionally) accredited college/university, with at least 18 graduate semester credits in relevant coursework.
* One to three years of undergraduate teaching experience with undergraduate business law coursework (as specified above) at the university/college level.
* One to three years of professional experience in business law.
* Proficiency working with standard office, learning management, AI, videoconferencing, and mobile applications.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Michigan State University was founded in 2016 and is poised for significant and sustained growth and expansion. BME consists of 19 core faculty and 22 adjunct faculty with a wide range of interdisciplinary interests, including bioinformatics, stem cell engineering, nano-robotics, neural engineering, and molecular imaging. BME faculty are funded through numerous external awards from a variety of sources, including multiple NIH R01 awards and three NSF CAREER awards. The College of Engineering at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for multiple tenure-system faculty positions in all areas related to Space Electronics. We encourage applications for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor and will consider exceptional candidates for appointment at the rank of Associate or (Full) Professor. These positions are supported through Michigan State University's Global Impact Initiative, designed to address global grand challenges and national priorities through the creation of over 100 new faculty positions in some of the most promising - and critical - fields of research.
Candidates must have earned a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a discipline related to Space Electronics at the time of appointment, with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2026. Successful candidates will be expected to develop a sustainable, externally funded, and internationally recognized research program; contribute significantly to their discipline through scholarly work; demonstrate effective teaching and mentorship of both undergraduate and graduate students; participate in institutional and professional service; and contribute to the university's land-grant mission. Faculty appointments are expected to reside primarily within the College of Engineering; however, appointments in other colleges or academic units may be made, depending on the candidate's expertise and interdisciplinary alignment. Joint appointments will be considered as appropriate. Candidates are encouraged to describe how their research complements and enhances existing strengths across Michigan State University.
All areas of research specialization will be considered, with a particular interest in candidates whose work has the potential to impact space electronics and aligns with the MSU Space Electronics Initiative, in close collaboration with the on-campus high-energy ion test facilities.
Highly encouraged areas of research include:
Space applications and space readiness for emerging materials and processes
Concepts, devices, and circuits advancing state-of-the-art semiconductors, including (but not limited to):
Wide band gap devices
Silicon photonics
Other photonic IC platforms for space applications
Heterogeneous microsystem integration and packaging of semiconductors and chiplets
Radiation and temperature effects on next-generation materials and electronics applications
The position involves participation in export-controlled research, requiring eligibility for facility access, testing of export-controlled parts, and compliance with technology export controls and federal sponsor requirements. Therefore, the successful candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents at the time of appointment. Other qualifications include strong leadership and interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication abilities, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment. Successful candidates will be appointed to an academic-year position in the tenure system, with the potential for tenure, if appropriate. Successful candidates are expected to elevate the reputation of MSU through their professional activities.

The Plant Resilience Institute (PRI) at Michigan State University invites applications for multiple tenure-stream faculty positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. We seek creative, collaborative researchers using innovative laboratory, computational, and/or field-based approaches to investigate plant responses to environmental challenges. Applications are encouraged from individuals studying any aspect of plant resilience across any scales, using model, non-model, or crop species. Research areas of interest include but are not limited to abiotic and biotic stress responses; plant-environment interactions; genotype-by-environment dynamics; and systems, synthetic biology, and other functional or AI approaches that advance our understanding of plant adaptation and productivity under changing environments. Consideration will be given to applicants whose research complements and expands PRI's strengths in hormones and small metabolites, plant-microbe and plant-insect interactions, and molecular mechanisms of stress tolerance and adaptation.
The mission of the Plant Resilience Institute (PRI; https://plantresilience.msu.edu/) is to enhance plant performance and sustainability under variable environmental conditions, and to serve as a center of excellence for both foundational and translational plant research. Research within PRI encompasses molecular to ecological scales and aims to stabilize the productivity and quality of food and energy crops in the face of environmental stressors. PRI faculty use model, crop, and non-model plant species to investigate a wide range of biological mechanisms relevant to resilience, including the role of hormones and metabolites, interactions among biotic and abiotic factors, and genotype-by-environment interactions. The PRI is part of a broader world-class plant science community at MSU comprising more than 200 faculty members conducting research that spans the laboratory-to-field continuum in both agricultural and natural ecosystems.
New PRI faculty hires will be housed in the forthcoming Plant and Environmental Sciences Building, a state-of-the-art research facility slated for completion in early 2027. The new building will support cutting-edge research at the interface of plants and the environment, with thematic strengths in plant resilience, regenerative agriculture, photosynthesis, and ecological adaptation. The facility will include modern laboratories, environmental growth chambers, rooftop phytotrons, an advanced imaging facility, shared support spaces, and collaborative areas that promote interdisciplinary exchange. The building will be connected to adjacent buildings that house other facilities such as cell sorting and mass spectrometry.
Candidates whose work incorporates new or emerging technologies and who contribute to the collaborative environment of the PRI and MSU plant science community are especially encouraged to apply. Experience in science communication or outreach as a researcher, educator, or community member is also valued. In addition to membership in PRI, successful candidates will be appointed within one or more academic units at MSU as their tenure home, including the Departments of Plant Biology; Plant, Soil & Microbial Sciences; Horticulture; Computational Mathematics, Science & Engineering; Forestry; Biochemistry & Molecular Biology; Microbiology and Molecular Genetics; Entomology; and affiliated programs such as the W.K. Kellogg Biological Station and MSU AgBioResearch. Faculty are expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses and contribute to student training and mentorship at all levels.
