FULL TIME LECTURER IN THE SCHOOL OF NURSING: The School of Nursing invites applications for a temporary lecturer appointment. Candidates selected will teach 30 units each academic year in the School of Nursing. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have a Masters of Science in Nursing and meet one of the BRN faculty approved areas (pediatrics, obstetrics, medical-surgical, psych-mental health, or geriatrics) for instruction, one year of instructional experience, and at least one year of direct patient care. The candidate must have a current and unobstructed California RN license, American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Provider Certification, and satisfactorily complete the CSU background check.
In addition to the minimum experience, the candidate should posses managerial, organizational, and strong interpersonal communication skills. The candidate should have technological and computer skills sufficient to participate and direct classroom and virtual learning activities with IT support.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate should have knowledge and skills related to teaching methodology, curriculum development and evaluation; and the ability to work with clinical partners and stakeholders for clinical placements. The preferred candidate would have instructional experience in simulation, two years of teaching experience and one year of leadership with oversight of faculty at the college level or nurses within an agency.
A current and unobstructed California RN license and BRN faculty approval in one of the areas (pediatrics, obstetrics, medical-surgical, psych-mental health, or geriatrics) for instruction.

COMPENSATION:

Newly hired lecturers with terminal degrees are placed in Range 3 of the salary schedule and others are normally placed in Range 2. Starting salaries are usually at or near the minimum of the range. The full-time (15 units per semester) monthly base salaries indicated in the schedules are prorated based on the number of units assigned and are paid in six monthly payments for each full semester. Training will consist of 60 hours of learning (40 hours of at home reading and modules and 20 hours of behind-the-wheel training)

PART-TIME LECTURER IN HORTICULTURE: The Agriculture Program is seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to fill our need for instructors to serve our Horticulture concentration. Successful candidates will teach courses using our on-campus sustainable garden as a field laboratory and requiring the integration of classroom instruction with field trips and hands-on farm training/workshops to help deepen theoretical and practical understanding of horticulture practices. Projected course assignments will focus on integrated pest management, weed biology, tree and fruit crop production and management, and principles and practices of horticulture. There may be additional compensated opportunities for specialized course development, for establishing an active student-focused experiential learning program, for student mentoring, and for advising a highly diverse student population, including those working to earn their Pest Control Advisor (PCA) and/or Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) licenses.
Appointments are based on available teaching need and may vary by semester. Successful candidates with interest in exploring competitive grant opportunities to fund summer activities and interdisciplinary projects on the university campus 2-acre Sustainable Garden and fruit orchard will be supported, as will those in a position to provide technical support to local farmers and ranchers.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS - HERE'S WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
HS diploma or GED equivalent
Certifications are required and documentation must be submitted:
For Fitness Classes:
o National certification (AFAA, ACE, NASM, ISSA, etc.) or format specific training (i.e. Les Mills, Zumba, Keiser, U-Jam Fitness, etc.) accepted to teach free programming
o Must complete online and in-person internal training requirements to teach paid programming
o Lifeguard certification must be held to teach any aqua programming. If not already obtained, in-house training will be provided after hire.
For Sports Classes/Clinics:
o 2+ years of team sports experience need to teach free programming
o National certification is required to teach paid programming: (i.e. USPTA, USTA Net Generation, USAPA, IPTPA, US Masters certification)
Audition is required as part of the selection process
Strong motivational skills
Must be able to work independently

The VN Clinical/Theory Instructor reports directly to the Director of Nursing and/or Clinical Skills Lab Supervisor. He/she will be responsible for teaching all class materials as outlined in the syllabus; meet program and course objectives; and follow program approved curriculum for VN Instruction.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Teaching responsibilities include time spent in the classroom, laboratory, or online in telecommunications courses and in immediate preparation for them;
Maintaining and improving competence in subjects being taught; preparing teaching materials;
Instructs students through clinical practice
Conferring with students on course materials;
Directing individual and group studies and practical;
Reviewing written or online examinations and papers;
Evaluating presentations; and supervising independent study projects.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare courses in accordance with published faculty workload guidelines and departmental requirements
Prepare and distribute course syllabi according to university and departmental requirements
Grade all assignments, quizzes, projects, and/or exams as described in the course syllabi
Meet with students (in person or virtual) as related to instructional activity
Evaluate, update, and revise courses regularly
Participate in the assessment activities of the Department as directed
Administrative responsibilities include writing syllabi, grading course work, submitting final grades.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
RN with Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of three years' experience or LVN with a minimum of six years' experience.
Current California Nursing License and current CPR/BLS card.
