Job Description
The Department of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Metallurgical Engineering at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. We seek dynamic and innovative candidates committed to excellence in teaching, research, and service, who will contribute to our department's mission of advancing knowledge in mining, metallurgical, and critical minerals engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching
Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in mineral processing, comminution, and extractive metallurgy.
Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students.
Contribute to curriculum development, including the integration of modern technologies, sustainability considerations, and innovative teaching practices.
Research
Establish a strong, externally funded research program addressing critical challenges in mineral and metallurgical engineering. Preferred research areas include, but are not limited to:
Mineral Processing and Beneficiation: Comminution, flotation, gravity/magnetic separation, and advanced process modeling.
Critical Minerals Recovery: Extraction and beneficiation of rare earth elements (REEs), lithium, and other strategic minerals from primary ores, tailings, and recycling streams.
Hydrometallurgy and Pyrometallurgy: Innovative leaching, solvent extraction, electrochemical methods, and smelting technologies for sustainable metal recovery.
Process Intensification & Sustainability: Energy- and water-efficient processing, development of enhanced dry processing methods, and reduction of environmental impacts.
Advanced Process Monitoring & Control: Application of particle tracking, image processing, machine learning, data analytics, and AI to optimize mineral and metallurgical systems.
Materials and Metallurgical Engineering: Design, characterization, and processing of advanced materials relevant to mining, metallurgy, and resource recovery.
Secure research grants and publish findings in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
Service
Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
Support the department's strategic initiatives, including program development, accreditation, and community outreach.
Actively participate in professional societies such as the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME).
Contribute to journal editorial and peer-review processes.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field by the start date of the appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong record of peer-reviewed publications and externally funded research.
Experience in interdisciplinary collaborations and industry partnerships.
Teaching experience in mineral processing, comminution, or metallurgical/process engineering.
Professional experience in the mining/metallurgical industry; Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is a plus.

Job Description
The Department of Agriculture, Veterinary, and Rangeland Sciences is seeking applicants to fill an Assistant Professor position in Rangeland Ecology & Management. The position is a tenure-track appointment at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). We are seeking a rangeland scientist/ecologist dedicated to educating, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in the ecology and management of rangelands and related fields. The position will consist of teaching, research, and service/outreach.
The department seeks a dynamic individual to provide leadership in teaching, research, and outreach/service related to rangeland ecology and management in the Great Basin and Intermountain West. The department expectation is that the successful applicant will develop a program in applied rangeland ecology and management, including areas such as rangeland plant and plant community/soil relationships, rangeland plant and plant community/animal interactions, rangeland plant community dynamics and rehabilitation, or other topics germane to rangeland ecology and management.
Research activities may be conducted at any of the Nevada Agriculture Experiment Station facilities, including the Gund Ranch and the Great Basin Research and Extension Center, and in cooperation with State and Federal land and natural resource management agencies and private operations. Outreach to stakeholders is expected. The successful candidate will be expected to teach core undergraduate rangeland ecology and management courses as well as graduate courses, while also mentoring graduate students and contributing to curriculum development. Undergraduate mentoring may include career counseling, advising the Range Club, or other activities as determined by the Department Chair. Acquisition of grant funding will be essential to maintain active research and outreach programs that meet the expectations for this position. Outreach activities are expected to cover local to international challenges and locations and therefore may require extensive travel throughout Nevada and beyond.
Required Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Rangeland Ecology and Management or closely related discipline. Ph.D. degree must be conferred by May 31, 2026.
Working knowledge, demonstrated field experience, and applied training in ecology and management of rangelands and other natural resources.
Demonstrated potential to produce a strong publication record.
Must be physically capable of conducting research and outreach in remote, rugged locations, including the ability to hike long distances, operate UTVs / ATVs, and tolerate extreme temperatures.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in rangeland ecology and management or related fields such as fire ecology, range-livestock interactions, and rangeland soil relationships in an effective manner.
Demonstrated ability to teach using more than one delivery method including face-to-face, virtual, and field based labs.
Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and demonstrated potential for securing competitive funding for research and outreach.
Expertise, training or experience applying animal and/or soil science to rangeland science and management.
Demonstrated ability to work productively with land management agencies and various stakeholder groups.
Demonstrated ability to articulate natural resource science and management to diverse audiences in the classroom and with stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to develop an innovative range management/natural resource outreach program throughout the state of Nevada and beyond.

Mondays through Fridays: 9AM - 12PM and 2:30PM - 4:30PM shifts available.
Saturdays: 9AM - 12PM shifts available.

THE JOB:
Bring "Soccer Island" alive with your enthusiasm and creativity.
Conduct soccer sessions for children 2 to 8 years old, including field setup and take down.
Encourage character development through positive reinforcement and role modeling.
Utilize expert created Soccer Shots curriculum and early childhood development teaching techniques.
Foster a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
WHAT YOU NEED:

Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
Preschool Memo of Eligibility, First Aid and CPR and negative TB test preferred.

Adjunct faculty job in Reno, NV
As a Physician Pediatrics, employee shall provide clinical services to patients who are appropriate for the scope of a pediatric physician including but not limited to growth and developmental monitoring, general medicine, and immunizations. Physician shall provide regular clinic coverage, inpatient and emergency consultation as needed. Physician will be expected to collaborate with and supervise mid-level providers. Physician can expect to have some involvement with telemedicine. A component of the physician's time will be allocated to teaching residents and medical students as appropriate.
Physician will also have academic time dedicated to performing the following Pediatric Chief Resident responsibilities:
* Monthly confidential meeting with residents.
* Author and send out weekly newsletter.
* Available as a resource and mentor to the residents.
* Member of PEC, CCC, RRC.
* Liaison between residents and faculty.
* Assist with any coaching, PIP, or remediation plans for residents in difficulty.
* Interview residency candidates.
* Assist in coordinating and facilitating Open House at end of recruitment season.
* Teaching didactics.
* Assist with creating and scheduling didactics.
* Supervision in areas in which you are providing care, and a resident is rotating:
* Inpatient floor > potentially one week per block
* Urgent Care > as a moonlighter
* Continuity Clinic attending > one afternoon per week and proxy for CC attendings on vacation or out sick.
* Assist in coordinating and co-facilitating Spring Retreat.
* Help plan resident activities.
Nature and Scope
The incumbent obtains history, examines, diagnoses, counsels, and treats patients within the physician's area of specialty and experience. The incumbent makes critical decisions regarding medical care. The incumbent works closely and in cooperation with the management staff, directs comments, questions to the appropriate management person, and follows administrative policies. The incumbent actively participates in physician governance meetings, management decisions, and follows policies adopted by Renown Health and its medical staff. The incumbent stays abreast of current advances in medicine by reviewing recent publications, attending in-services and educational meetings, and attending continuing medical education programs in the appropriate field.

Ability to function effectively in an integrated delivery system.
1. Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulatory rules.
2. Capable of operating business units in conformance with excellent quality and business practices as may be outlined by agencies such as The Joint Commission, NCQA, MGMA, etc.

5. Ability to work independently.

License(s):
Must possess and maintain a current and valid State of Nevada Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic (DO) medicine license. Controlled substance License to Prescribe issued by the State of Nevada and Controlled Substance Registration Certificate issued by the DEA, required.
Certification(s):
Board-Eligible in General Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP).
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required. Prefer American Heart Association (AHA) approved certification but will accept online certification from American Red Cross Training Services, Advanced Medical Certification, or ACLS Certification Institute.
Computer / Typing:
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word and have the ability to use the computer to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
Ability to credential through Renown's Medical Staff and/or payor credentialing, as applicable.
